The Progressive Era	Black Progressives William Monroe Trotter and W.E.B. Du Bois actively campaign on behalf of the Progressive Presidential Candidate Woodrow Wilson, hoping that he would return the favor upon Black people, assisting them in "One Upping" their enemy Booker T. Washington WILSON'S RESPONSE:  (Paraphrased by true):  "Any Ninja who thought that by casting a vote for me he would receive special favor from my administration will soon see how badly mistaken he was" Wilson went on to re-segregate all federal buildings in Washington DC as some Whites resented having to report to or work near Black people. RESULT:  Black Progressivism learned that a UNILATERAL investment into a political cause does not always benefit the Black community as they had planned.
The Civil Rights Era	Dr King To President Johnson: "We demand full rights for the Negro in America.  We can't wait any longer.  We want nothing less than a 'War On Poverty" President Johnson's Pre-Vietnam War Sentiments: "I will use the full faith and power of my office to push through a set of 'social justice protections' that will allow the Negro to rise up from the vestiges of Slavery that still exist. President Johnson's Post-Vietnam War Sentiments: "I will use the full faith and power of my office to cut your black behind off for speaking out against my military policy.   J.Edgar Hoover is going to serve you up - just as he did to Marcus Garvey to the pleasure of A.Phillip Randolph and W.E.B. Du Bois". RESULT: Principled Progressivism make the case that "Injustice Anywhere Is A Threat To Justice Everywhere".  They built a "mantle" that they could carry forward as 'the moral authority'.
The Bayard Rustin Vote For The Black Community Salvation Era The "Unbought / Unsold " Rise To Political Power Building (Sub) Era	"You are going to sign this MLK Jr Day Holiday bill or we are going to riot in the street.  If you sign it we will still make the case that you are a racist.  You just will be a "Racist that tried to destroy the Black community with CIA crack" but not the type of racist "That wanted Dr King and other Negro leaders dead", who cheered when they heard the news. RESULT:  The NAACP now has a day by which they can look outward at all of the WHITE schools that may be disrespecting Black people on the 3rd Monday of January by opening school to make up for snow days as a means of looking past the local schools and how the "Favorable People" that they placed into power are actually doing to help Black students learn.
The "WE Demand To Get Into The White House Since You Refuse To Speak To The NAACP" Era	After Years Of Demanding A Meeting At The White House With President Bush - The Congressional Black Caucus Is Provided A Meeting And Then Immediately Holds A Press Conference Claiming That Bush Has No Intention Of Renewing "The Voting Rights Act" RESULT: After a series of congressional hearings on the VRA - the bill was passed by Congress and then sent to Bush where he signed it. Rep John Lewis, who years ago made the case that the "South has made great racial progress" as he testified in support of Rep Cynthia McKinney's oblong district that stretched from Metro Atlanta down to August and then southward, later had to make the case that "Racism Still Lurks Like A Klansman In The Night" when it came time to him pushing for a re-up of the bill.
The "WE Are In The White House Era"	The Embedded Black Fox Confidence Man: "Though we don't agree with all of this President's RIGHT WING foreign and military policy - we REFUSE to criticize him because this only gives our common enemies ammunition against him during his reelection". RESULT:  The US War Machine used ammunition against Libya and Somalia in Africa and then drone strikes in Yemen, Pakistan and then is queuing up to go into Syria - all without fear of any of the "Keepers Of King's Rhetoric" saying a peep. The ONLY thing they say is "In his second term THE PRESIDENT is going to be able to do what he wants to do".  (They can't see that this is the problem RIGHT NOW.)
