Transition Your Annual Public Rituals At The "Moores Ford Bridge" As You Hope To Find The Killers In The Lynching From More Than 60 Years Ago................. ............Updating It To Focus On A Greater Commitment To Finding "Street Pirates" Who Have Assaulted And Murdered Black People In Recent Days On........ Keep The Street Named After "Civil Rights Heroes" Off Of The Atlanta Police Department Crime Reports. To The Black Victims Their Assautls Feel The Same As When These Streets Were Named After Confederate Generals |
I have no problem with your activism.
I have a problem with your SILENCE and PROTECTIONISM.
You and Rev Joseph E Lowery were active over the past 30 years in purging the names of "Confederate Generals" that had been placed upon street signs by the previous occupants of Atlanta with "Civil Rights Heroes". You told us that the key to making Northwest and Southwest Atlanta safe for the Black residents involved the "Removal Of The Names Of Their Oppressors" from the lofty perch.
You compelled the majority of the Black community to go along with the plan.
Some of you even got a street of your own.
Despite the ribbon cutting ceremony and good feelings that were had by many - it seems that the main forces that seem unconvinced about the majesty and sacredness of these grand thoroughfares are the "Street Pirates - WHO DON'T GIVE A DAMN" as they will rob and assault anyone as they execute their "crimes of opportunity".
I don't have a problem with your struggle against the Klan from positing its name around the state in an effort to achieve credibility or acceptance.
My concern is that once your annual rituals are completed the "history lesson about the ghost of Oppression Past" does not seem to stick into the mind of the forces that are threatening Black people who have to live there when you have gone away.
| (No Disrespect Intended Toward The Myrick Family) As I was doing a "Google Image Search" seeking pictures of street signs from the various "Civil Rights Heroes" I came across a web site with the image below because of the word "Joseph E Boone Blvd" This is the case of the late Linda Myrick, 44. In 2010 Ms Myrick was abducted and then reported missing. Her decapitated body was found JUST OFF OF JOSEPH E BOONE BLVD. This case did not stir the ire of the "Civil Rights Pharisees". No "Lynching Analogies" were made. Ms Myrick's headless body (hands cut off as well) was found in a Black community that is not known for "Klan activity" in modern times. I struggle to understand how a (Black) consciousness that is always on the search for "equal treatment" and has a scanner probing for "disrespect" is also guilty of being unable to enforce the very same standard upon its OWN KIND. It seems, that without an ideological/political/racial/class indictment to make certain indictments are merely swept under the rug. While various lynching victims received a historical marker where their bodies were found, Ms Myrick only had a body covered with insects, feasting upon carrion, intent on returning the carcass to its natural state, assisting the smell of death that hovered upon this grand boulevard to dissipate, some other such stink bomb to be thrown at some later date. |

True. The KKK is an embarrassment to most white people. They should be marginalized.
Renaming streets? As you've pointed out it is pretty pointless when the current crop of ninjas/thugs don't really care. They will rob you blind pretty much wherever they find you.
As to the civil rights names there were 360,222 men from the north that gave up their lives in the Civil War - ultimately to free blacks from slavery. I hope that their sacrifice wasn't in vain.
