My View On Rev Creflo Dollar - I Accept His Word As A Responsible Father But Will Keep An Eye Out For A Pattern Of Behavior
AJC: Creflo Dollar: "I should never have been arrested"
This is not the quote that you would like to see your pastor being quoted in the paper as saying. (No I do not go to World Changers. I am just making the point).
As I drove up Old National Highway on Friday I saw all of the local broadcast news trucks parked along the street, waiting for their beat reporters to do their 4pm, 5pm, 6pm and 11pm dispatches from the scene. I drove past the man's mansion and was glad to see that there were no news trucks parked there.
The point is that while Rev Creflo Dollar and his wife Taffi are leaders in a large church, they are also parents who are forced to deal with their children - just like most of us have to do.
They have no magical power that is going to compel their children to be perfect angels. The only thing that they can hope to do - like the rest of us - is to have paved a solid foundation for the road that their children will ultimately have to travel on their own.
I have been in situations in which heightened emotions with a loved one could have gotten physical IF one, the other or both had not agreed to back down rather than throw a match upon that can of fuel that was positioned in the middle of the room.
This family is in a fish bowl, to an extent greater than most people will ever know. I am positive that this young daughter knows that (as far as I know) her father does not have a track record of abusing her. And that her choice to allow "family business" - beyond a certain threshold - out of the house. (Again - I am not saying that you sit upon everything. There are certain actions that cross the line and that need to be exposed so that the vulnerable members of the family are protected).
This doesn't appear to be an issue for the government - via the social workers or the courts to get involved with.
I would personally be more impressed if World Changers Church was to be more active in mitigating the violence that the strip of Old National Highway has been producing for the last several years.
