Michel Martin: "A Fish Don't Know He A Wet Bigot Too"

Dear Mrs Martin:

Is there any part of you that imagines that there is a bit of you and your Progressive friends in the "straw men conservatives" that you stand up in order to tear down during your "Can I Just Tell You?" segments?

You talk about DIVERSITY in the segment below.
You queue a "conservative" as the entrenched, closed minded specimine who wants nothing to do with DIVERSITY.

In my personal experience in the many "Just Between Us Chickens" conversations with people who are "Diversity Consultants" for corporations - they are some of the most "real" but bigoted people around.   They look for Black people in leadership positions that "THEY CAN WORK WITH".    Of course what this means IS - if you are a Black who does not believe in Affirmative Action - you are more likely to be called named.  I would even say that the "venerated"/"vicarious living" that is bestowed upon a Black person with "hiring authority" turns into attacks - where a White progressive who they could "work with" is even preferred.

Are you sure that the pro-Diversity people are the open minded people that you proclaim?


You make use of the former National Review Online content provider, John Derbyshire after he penned an article that was clearly in response to the many "What every Black parent tells their Black sons on how to interact with the police - after getting racially profiled by a racist White cop"stories that stemmed from the Trayvon Martin killing.   With the recent news about the recent news about the New Corp owned - New York Post columnist who dared to indict Jay-Z after listening to one of his albums and then projecting this imagery upon his sports franchise - it is clearly out of bounds for anyone to comment about things that are dear to Black progressives.  Indeed one can dare to model their public commentary after what is introduced into the public space by "protected individuals" - as long as they understand that there is a price to pay for doing so.  (Recall that Dr Laura got served for commenting for violating "commercial speech" when she commented about the COMMERCIAL speech from Black people who don't seem to be confined by such standards).

Do you see that one can't escape the notion that Black Equality - which has been so long been viewed as what society distributes to us - as evidence of our equal standing - has not yet been universally applied to what Black people ourselves regulate with regard to what we hold other people to?

You mentioned that Derbyshire made a reference to INTELLIGENCE as a means of further concluding about his bigoted credentials.

This reference made by you triggered another reference to a recent discussion about IQ.    While there are many books written about the offense taken by the "Black Racial Services Machine" about their offense over the RACIST book "The Bell Curve" for some reason the news that a Canadian based searchers found that CONSERVATIVES have lower IQs was not added to the "Bell Curve Wars".  Many of the same Black progressive outlets who were insensed about the past in which Black people were on the receiving end of bigotry put forth as science - did not hestitate to "re-Tweet this student about 'Stupid Conservatives'

It just so happens that there is a high correlation between the proaganda sources that propagated this message and the modern day venues where the "Black (Progressive) Agenda" is hosted.

UPDATE The BIG IRONY. Even though there is no limit on the indictment against popular enemies of Black (Progressive) people.  The image of the Klansman and his modern day derivative (the Tea Party - if you listen to the arguments of the Black Progressive) can be attributed to the shortfalls that have taken place WITHIN THE BLACK COMMUNITY - despite the growth of the "Progressive Joint Venture". YET if we dare to discuss the actual predominate assailants of Black people today - in the context of yet another coordinated and focused EXTERNAL INDICTMENT (in Sandford Florida) the very same people who are seen using propaganda images above - rise up in offense that someone is talking about "Black On Black Murder" - the primary agent of homicide for young Black people rather than agree to queue up the "White Hispanic" claims that he "Stood His Ground". They are contented that all races kill each other more frequently than does an inter-racial murderer. This messaging about "equal self inflicted injury" that sooths their biased consciousness can't bear the fact that Black people who are 13% of the population are 50% of the homicide victims. Mrs Martin - THIS is the injury that Black People suffer in aggregate as a result of the promotion of "Congregational Unity" through EXTERNAL INDICTMENT rather than a focused, disciplined resolve to force the "favorable people" that the Black populace INVESTED their "Black Community Development Consciousness" to deliver upon the promises of safety and effective conflict resolution. This very same consciousness - when conflicted with the need to challenge the Black Racial Services Machine to deliver lest it is forced to inspect the IDEOLOGICAL ASSUMPTIONS that has been propagated as "Real Blackness", returning to an OPEN MINDED re-analysis of what we need as a people in this context of today instead of when the Klansman were the main terrorists. SUMMARY:  The antics used to effectuate CONGREGATIONAL UNITY are ultimately more important than actually SOLVING PROBLEMS and GROWING THE COMPETENCIES of the Black Community. A loyal congregation is never going to turn against a set of Embedded Confidence Men that remain POPULAR and channel their angst against the appropriate external scoundrel. This is UNTIL the dynamics change and they are all alone, by themselves, needing to leverage the skills and competencies and INSTITUTIONAL INTEGRITY ENFORCEMENT measures  that they SHOULD HAVE been developing during the lean years.

Please understand my argument, Mrs Martin -

My agenda is not to defend the Klan or the Tea Party.
Instead I am monitoring what passes for "Black Community Development" but I can't get past the fact that the majority of it is merely left-wing/ progressive-fundamentalist propaganda. 

Like the concept of "If you can't beat 'em - join 'em" the lack of any sort of INSTITUTIONAL INTEGRITY among the ranks of Black America puts for the scheme of "Since we know that we have failed to develop Black people to the extent that we promised before we took their investments - we need to keep feeding them BREAD AND CIRSUSES in the flavor that they like and they will be contented, never thinking to place a check on our antics".

It seems that your concept of RACIAL bigotry that is steeped in CONSERVATIVE IDEOLOGICAL bigotry needs to be extended to the capacity of Black Progerssives to traffic in the very same type of BIGOTED transactions that originally motivated White bigots.

At minimum more serious minded Black Progressive media sources - like yourself - need to provide more structure, guidance and repudiation of the 'Super PAC Black Progressive Fundamentalists" who understand that there is no reason to "Traffic in the mud and then ask for forgiveness later" because there is a void in the infrastructure that has any intention of maintaining a certain line.

The consequence of this is that the predominate focus on the enemy becomes the exitential purpose of what calls itself "The Black Press".
I am not sure if MSNBC plans to hire all of them who appear to be trying out for their own show.
