- Detroit Court Holds Rare Sunday Arraignment Hearing For 3 Street Pirates Who Attacked Rev Winans
- Rev Winans Says He Was Never Afraid During The Attack
I am happy that at least 3 of the young males who waged a brutal attack and intimidation of Rev Winans at a Detroit gas station were caught and brought to justice.
The problem that I have from the report is that some people are arguing that it took a "Street Pirate Celebrity Beat Down" for attention to be brought to this problem. (and for the police to aggressively respond).
This problem is not new in Detroit or many other cities.
Of course economic desperation and erosion of social order is at the root of motivations for the "Would Be Pillars Of The Community" to act out as such.
MY problem is that the present conditions in Detroit can be directly traced back to a series of political decisions and the main orchestrators of these choices remain in power (as a machine), still able to redirect blame outward, retaining their power over the suffering people.
The so-called "Black Church" that is promising to more aggressively confront the problems with violence on the streets in the wake of the Rev Winans attack is just as asleep at the switch now that the "threat" to traditional marriage has been recognized based on recent political opportunism.
In both cases their reactionary actions prove that the greater problem is the incompetence in providing sufficient governance over the communities that they purport to provide "spiritual cover" over.
The notion of "come into our house and let 'Jesus' service you", this in the context of the 'Feed The Least Of These' consciousness leaves the void that I speak of. The need to affect a sufficient governing order over the community is lost as the Black Consciousness about itself is sucked into the blood sport of American Politics.
As "Professional Progressive Political Preachers" - with million mile airline frequent flier accounts come into town to convince the masses that their problems reside at the state level due to racism - the people are lulled into further STRUGGLE - mistaking this for GOVERNANCE.
