Poverty In New York City Hits 21%

Study: 21 percent of New Yorkers are living in poverty

The advantage that progressive minded people have is that - upon seeing this statistic, instead of making the case that past failed policies of those who have the dominate control over a "Mission Accomplished City" (progressives do), they work to get behind a person with a plan to attack the problem going forward.  (a fellow progressive).

Since few people play the "historian" - reminding the masses that the same conditions that were present at the last interval of "struggle" is what got the present establishment machine into power as they promised to implement a "social justice strategy" that would afford more "shared prosperity".  (Isn't this the title of the "Center For Economic Opportunity" report?  Or is that the "Economic Policy Institute"?)

Who at the CEO or EPI is going to look at how the INSTITUTIONS for "Human Resource Development" in NYC that were to educate the people and the economic development entities that were to make NYC a favorable place for "consumers of labor", affirming that both of these entities have been effective?

Instead they tend to look at the line of people outside of the door and move forward, with the very same policies - which enjoy populist appeal - but which ultimately never holds itself SELF-ACCOUNTABLE for its failures.

Even after decades of success in driving out their "conservative enemies" from power it is the PRESENCE IN POWER by a given ideology that is proof of its success, NOT as represented by the condition of the people. (as I recall it NYC has 54 council seats and the Democrats hold about 51 of them.   I am assuming that "Democrat = progressive" because I am talking about ideology and not party here).
