I watched your C-SPAN Book TV speech on your book "Power Concedes Nothing".
I, a "Black Conservator" is transparent enough to say that "The Least Of These" NEED someone like you who is going to "Fight The Power".
I would be remiss, however, if I failed to note that you and your Progressive-Fundamentalist structure seeks to create a "full service government" while you can't bring yourself to note of your failure to DEVELOP your "Social Justice clients".
My key challenge to you - borrowing from your book's title "Power Concedes Nothing".................What happens when progressives like you, after years of performing the "struggle motion" and investing your "equal ballots" - now slip up and YOU become "The Power"?
Did you notice that you said that "WE" voted for the (I forget the fused name that you used for "Democrats and Republicans").
Since we all know that you did not vote for any Republicans and that there are none running Los Angeles - what about the point of political power building in LA makes you believe that an even greater "Progressive Struggle" will yield any different results.
Also - could it be that you have "sued more Democratic mayors" than Republican is BECAUSE the progressives dominate the areas where "the urban least of these" are most heavily concentrated?
My issue is not Democrat vs Republican. I am far more interested in debating the mantra that you seem to be marching with (Progressivism) and how it always seems to operate upon the notion of "Establishment Power Repudiation".
Establishment Power Repudiation is the "self-agreed upon" "self-denial" that the machine that you have invested in over your community - after being made confident that it would bring forth the fix that you have so long desired - is now, by all transparent measure THE ESTABLISHMENT POWER over a given political boundary. (Just as Bayard Rustin told us to do).
After all of the campaign victory rallies and "The BET 'News Staff' After Party At The Inaugural Ball" the keys to the kingdom is now in favorable hands. After all of the public policy that was set forth by the "enemy" has been changed (and - in the case of Atlanta - all of the Confederate General's street signs have been removed and replaced with OUR 'Civil Rights Heroes') these rituals and veneration, we later find, while able to garner excitement (Bread and Circuses) from the constituencies as the leader still receives applause from the audience has he lists "all that he has done for the community" - often fails to SUFFICIENTLY alter the "misery index" for the community.
Ironically, Ms Rice - when the "coalition" remains tight, however, despite the fact that "The Least Of These" have suffered from the combination of "administrative incompetencies" in the criminal justice system or short falls in promised services - we see a "protection racket" effect that is built up rather than a purge toward quality.
There appears an "Embedded Confidence Man" who starts talking in terms of what some external enemy who "didn't want US in office in the first place" now seeking to run "OUR elected officials out of office". This due to either claims of corruption, fiscal incompetency or the failure to provide state-level funding that might keep the local franchise alive.
(See Detroit). What this produces is a disruption in the normal fiscal management and regulatory oversight function. Claims of RACISM are forced to be dealt with in terms equal to a normal financial audit report done in the name of due diligence. Unfortunately the indictments don't have any of the disciplined and measured structure that an audit does. It is all based on riling up the people who are being harmed the most by the "Embedded Confidence Men" to, functionally, STAND AGAINST what has PROVEN TO BE against their own interests - yet still POPULAR among people who have not built up an alternative course. Such is the incestuous relationship that is present in many, many cities - inclusive of all ideologies - I may add.

I make no bones about the fact that most Black Progressives will listen to your argument and have their "STRUGGLE MOTION" affirmed.
I, however, am more structured in my thinking.
There is no other state or metro area that is more PROGRESSIVE and a "Mission Accomplished" than is Southern California.
Let me tell you my view - as a "Black Conservator" who is looking in on the messages that are pumped to "The Least of These" by people like you - that ultimately only is a grand "Moving The Goal Posts" scheme.
Do you know the story of the Black man who looks at the corruption of the legal system and thus, upon seeing this fraud they turn in to disruptive behavior? But for my alternative channel to express this frustration in what I see in the Progressive Joint-Venture - I too would be breaking windows.
What should I do when I see you and others who now dominately control these "Mission Accomplished Cities", yet - despite having the most favorable ideological and political array in power - you can't bring yourself to put PROGRESSIVISM ON TRIAL?
Who is the "consciousness historian" in the "Least Of These Development" movement? Those who listen to what had compelled the people to invest their "development hopes", as voiced through their ballots - into the present machine that dominates Los Angeles and California?
In your talk, however, it was clear that you were attacking conservatives and those who are unwilling to yield more of their taxes to the government. Yet for some reason you can't bring yourself to talk in terms of SQUANDERED DEVELOPMENT.
Why is it that "The Rich" is the source of INCOME INEQUALITY but not the SIGHT OF INFRASTRUCTURE UNSEEN? The infrastructure - which IF those who took control had built and assigned the "Least Of These" as key agents within - would today be producing FAR, FAR, FAR more wealth that would be filling up the community coffers and thus providing the standard of living that you seek to accomplish through "Confiscatory Taxation"?
You have an affinity for "The Occupation".
I, by contrast, see "The Occupiers" as residents of MISSION ACCOMPLISHED ZONES, who came along after the machine was in place, who today make note of the "short end of the stick" that they have received BUT - as they take company with elder "Social Justice Advocates" - they can't bring themselves to see that those who take pride in their protests today - where the protesters who used their POLITICAL POWER to build up the machine that they say today is failing them.
I notice that you stand against the "California Bullet Train" as, you say, it takes away money from "Social Justice Funds". When the Obama Administration was pushing these transportation systems as the gateway toward bringing American infrastructure up to speed with China - did YOU stand opposed to taking this 'Federal Debt Stimulating Stimulus Money", risk standing with the Republicans - as you saw that the state matching funds to build these systems was money taken from the mouth of babes?
I heard too many "moved goal posts" in your arguments - despite my value of someone with your passion for the community.
You said that the "Least Of These" have the RIGHT to "Safe Streets". I will ask you the same question that I asked a local politician who made a similar statement on Black-wing talk radio: "SAFE...................FROM WHOM?"

Why Is The Progressive Not Looking At WHO CAN GET ELECTED And Then Make Note As To The PSYCHOLOGICAL Effect That This "Embedded Confidence Man Fulfills - As You Attempt To Block Their Unmitigated Access To These Fragile Minds Who Are So Desperate?

I have only concluded that your theories can never be allowed to reach beyond a certain tipping point in a given domain of control, lest you shift the failure to develop "the least of these" via ORGANIC COMPETENCIES into a perpetual struggle for "social justice" - where people like Harry Belafonte is lauded for what he did to fight against the RACISTS who harmed our communities but who can't bring himself to field an effective strategy to address the people in the community who have so little consciousness that TODAY - they kill people on "Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr Blvd" - the greed and hatred within trumping their reverence for him.
