"Memphis must put a renewed focus on it's role and it's moral authority in the quest for freedom," said Jackson.
During a wide-ranging news conference at Memphis City Hall, the civil rights pioneer more than once expressed his fear that conservative forces, including those in Tennessee, are trying to "turn back the clock" for equal rights won by women and minorities.
"There is a renewed effort to undermine racial justice which was achieved through equality and to a New South," said Jackson. "To move racial justice and workers' rights from the agenda it must not be allowed to happen."
Jackson observed the revival of state's rights laws and proposals, specifically the implementation of voter photo-I-D's, show a developing pattern of suppression at the ballot box designed to influence the outcome of this year's Presidential race.
"While we have the captain of the ship is African American. There's mutiny on the ship. Those who want to sink the ship just to destroy the captain. It's irrational. But, it's taking place…Voter suppression schemes in 38 states here in Tennessee...We're fighting wars for voter access abroad and denied voter access at home. We must not back up on that."

Black Progressive-Fundamentalist Bigots do not mind making the assumption of Black Inferiority as long as there is some perceived benefit that we receive at the end of bowing down and allowing the White Progressive Cheshire Fox to use us as a poster child in their fight against the White Conservative Wolf.
A debate that should be focused on the "REASONABLE ASSUMPTION" that everyone functioning in this society should be expected to have photo ID has turned into a deconstructive proxy fight in the "Malcolm X Political Football Game" with THE NEGRO taking to the stage with his neck brace on. He was caught on tape in the hallway putting on his neck brace before he entered the room.
In our present freedom in this nation - he was lead to believe that this is the way the SYSTEM works. The enemy makes use of nefarious claims (Black criminality) ................."WE" must make use of nefarious claims such as the "Negro inferiority in his ability to get photo ID".
I make a habit of monitoring where "The Least Of These" live and do retail commerce. If someone can prove that the photo ID is NOT a basic part of life for the "unbanked" to do their financial transactions - I would like to see it.
The truth is that the commercial interests that they interact with have a vested interest in protecting the VALUABLE that the masses seek access to - legitimately or not. Thus they demand reasonable authentication before dispensing it.
The only reason why we are having this inane debate over photo ID as authentication prior to the deposit of a BALLOT - is because in the world of GOVERNMENT and the POLITICS that has ensnared and threats to suffocate its transparent operation - the nefarious interests are allowed to hijack an otherwise sensible provision:
- Proposing it in a manner that would trigger suspicion of their intentions made to play upon bigoted views
- The reaction against the proposal making use of specious claims as they too leverage bigoted views about the competency of those they say would be victimized
THE DUNG PRODUCING PARTY ANIMALS ARE THE PROBLEM
We have massive problems in this nation yet the warring tribes are able to compel us to talk about the need to card people and the offense at being carded.
