I believe that the racial dust ups like the one brewing as a result of the video below that captured the views of two White female students in north Florida are important in the ever swirling debate on race and racism in America.
It is more important to look at people's responses to this video than the video itself as an indicator of where we stand. Those who dismiss the video outright with rebuttals of "Racist!!!!!" and demands that they be expelled fail to use this as an opportunity to have a more structured discussion and analysis of the situation.
As for me as a Black man - these two high school girls rate low on my "Threat Index". They don't have the POWER to harm me where it counts.
Those who argue that "They will one day be placed in a position of making hiring decisions and will use their RACISM against Black people if they are not checked right now" ..................I say - that in as much as YOU assess their observations (however misguided) over some of the Black people that they experience in their school and YOU AGREE WITH THEIR ASSESSMENT with reference to your personal standard - by tucking this truth away as you go after them for offending you - you merely allow that which you admit violates your standard to go unchecked.
The result is that people who are observing certain dysfunctions are trained to keep silent lest they are punished.
The only solution is to KNOW YOURSELF and what YOU define as desirable global values for the Black Community to enforce upon our people. YOU should make observations that certain thoughts and behaviors are not up to OUR COMMUNITY STANDARD long before the police or these two White high school girls gain access to the human form with two legs that are a representation of the life experiences that they were treated to upon exiting the womb.
Clearly the debate on contraceptives and who is going to pay for them has been far too shallow as this issue at hand in this video has far more broad reaching impact upon our people and our development - after we survive our mother's "choice".
Here is a point by point documentation of how I reacted to listening to the 13 minute rant of these two White girls in northern Florida.
The first thing I did was to inspect the demographics of their school - Gainesville High School - to affirm the veracity of their claims and to check out the relative performance of the school.
ANALYSIS - Clearly these two young girls are misinformed. Their perception of the racial make up of the school is drastically wrong. Gainsville High is a majority White school.
I see an anomaly in the numbers as they have lower than average "Free Lunch" students and a suspiciously low graduation rate as well. If the claim is that poor and minority students drag down the graduation rates then these numbers don't add up. It has to be true that there are a significant number of Whites who also drop out for the school to have this graduation rate that is below the state average. Florida is one of our most "diverse" states.
I practice "study by immersion".
Just as I am forced to define a filter when I am presented with "social justice talk", which allows me to discard the "shyt talking" and instead focus on the core arguments - I did the very same thing with these two high school girls. The majority of their arguments were like "cotton candy" - voluminous and high caloric but with little mass or nutritional value.

The fact that some people commenting on the video believed that they were "Speaking The Truth" tells you how one's own latent bigotry allows them to be taken in by rants that fall short in factual grounding.
For me I am more important in analyzing the issue at hand from the perspective of the Black Community and if OUR "Human Resource Development Institutions" and culture are sculpting a sufficient number of our people into the finished form that we need for our development. The opinions of these two high school students that are just branching out into the real world after 16 years of gestation inside of a cocoon managed by their parents is a minor concern. A "VICTORY" over them would likely come in the form of silencing. It won't address the problems that - if it was 'just between us chickens" we would agree, regardless of our respective ideology and propensity to front.

Though some Atlanta based "Civil Rights Rappers" might conclude that since they are already down in Quitman GA addressing the "Civil Rights Violations" on the Brooks County School Board that another 120 miles traveled across the state line into Gainesville to address this situation is a great use of their time - I disagree.

The Black community has sufficiently bought into your notion that the results that our people are achieving academically is BECAUSE there are ignorant White people, just like the two little girls in the video and THUS we must fight them in "hand to hand combat". Since such a fighting style requires an up close and personal engagement - your cars have registered a lot of mileage and you are now a platinum member of the airline loyalty club as you racism chase.
I contend that the first question that the Black Community must ask itself is "ARE the graduation rates and general performance rates SUFFICIENT for our community to obtain the desired standard of living, as provided by the PROFESSIONAL SERVICE AGENTS who will receive the training that is necessary to provide such services for our people?"
My answer is an unmitigated "NO!!!".
A 43% Black male graduation rate from high schools in Florida is an ATTACK on the long term interests of Black America.

Interesting post. The perception of these children is distorted with respect to race. It is compelling, psychologically, how 37% comes to be perceived and internalized as 60%...as outnumbered?, as overwhelmed?, as overrun?
Yes but...................that what but a passing reference in my original post.
I indeed dismissed the perceptions of these two airhead teens when it comes to the demographics at their school.
When it comes to the alignment of the culture and consciousness of the subset of Blacks that they were talking about with long term productive ends for the benefit of the Black Community - the views of these two girls are IRRELEVANT.
I am more concerned with the "Organic Competency Development" that they are exposed to than I am about the 'offensiveness' of this YouTube post.
If this video Or the "Pittsburgh Community In Atlanta" beat down never appeared in public this does not mean that these real world events did not take place.
