In listening to "Black Wing Talk Radio" yesterday I heard a commercial that had a reference that made my "conscious eye" tear up inside.
I was not clear on if the commercial was from the National Urban League or if it was another episode of the 'Black History Month" in-house produced segments that was paying tribute to NUL president Marc Morial.
In any event the voice over said that the National Urban League was committed to "closing the income gap between Whites and Blacks, the gap between the Rich and the Poor".
I fully understand that to most people this is an innocuous reference to the "Black Progressive Agenda's" goal sits comfortably into their ideological perspective.
For me, however, I saw this just as I see the NULs annual reference to the "perfect 1.0" White people that appears each year in their "State Of Black America" report. When matching the wealth of White people becomes YOUR goal we should shift from calculating aggregate incomes and instead ask the patient to lay down on the couch. The character of this quest should be measured NOT in its success in obtaining their end but "what are they willing to do in support of this end?".
Black / White Income Equality can be obtained by:
- Taking An Inventory Of The Black Community's Productive Capacity and making sure that is it the best educated, most productive and most tactically conscious resource in this market
- Looking more globally holistically at the goal of wealth creation by leveraging all the human and material resources in the Black diaspora. Just as globalization is not bound to national borders - so must be the case with this new consciousness
- Using the power of the US federal government to impose a regime of "Social Justice Public Policies" that imposes a heavy hand in the US market, enabling the redistributive economic policies that the progressive-fundamentalists prefer - thus producing equal "receipt of social entitlement"
My basic argument is, from my research on what makes them tick - the same voices that made the commercial referencing the NUL's agenda also do not distinguish between:
- "Being In Receipt Of Benefit" as the consumer accouterments that allow the masses to live at the desired standard of living
- Fully Leveraging the resources accessible to the Black community to develop the "human resources" via the institutions within the community
It is my contention that these two methodologies are not equal. Only one of them are transportable to other parts of the "Black diaspora", the skills mastered in one place able to be pruned and grafted elsewhere where there is a need for development. The transport of CONSUMERS from one place to the next only makes the suppliers follow them to service their demands.
I maintain my question in criticism to the National Urban League's agenda - "What do you do for The Least Of These when there is not sufficient 'Perfect 1.0's' available inside of the common tax domain for you to model your strategy after?".
Jeremy Lin, American Of Taiwanese Descent Threats Some Black People As He Hopes To Do For The NBA What Koreans Have Done To The Black Hair Care Market
Some of the same Black people who are attempting to throw cold water on the Asian American response of veneration and vicarious living through Jeremy Lin can't bring themselves to see their common behavior invested into President Obama. The key difference is that Jeremy Lin does not have the power to order the US Military to invade a sovereign African nation and then compel the Black press to applaud the action as a victory for their target of veneration.
If there was a measure of intellectual consistency they would note:
While it is great to celebrate the novelty of something new and unique we should never allow this veneration to put aside the larger picture. In the case of Lin - indeed other 'Black' athletes do what Lin does but don't receive the same acclaim. It is also true that other 'White' Presidents have done what Commander In Chief Obama has done using the US Military and triggered the ire of the Black community.
China
As the nation of China ponders how it might finance more of the debt from Europe and the United States - the recent visit by Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping a measure of "finger wagging" by various US officials, warning China about some of its trade, monetary and workers rights policies.
It seems increasingly clear that the best strategy for the Chinese to take is to take in all of this criticism from its debtors and consumers and keep doing what it is doing because those who hold the fiscal balance of power ultimately holds the biggest finger to point.
