ANALYSIS - The Ironies Of The Response To The "Civil Rights Violation" In "The Pittsburgh Community" Of Atlanta

Let me be clear - I do not believe that the "Civil Rights Pharisees" have an official government or corporate obligation to "protest on behalf of" all that ails the Black Community.  The more than the Black rank & file abdicate its own responsibility to manage its affairs at the periphery - the more they expose themselves to usurpation schemes that seek to hijack their "community consciousness attention" for some larger agenda, far beyond their community boundaries.

My only argument is that - In as much as they represent themselves as the "Defenders Of Blackness" then I will use my right to free speech to ensure that they are not selling "Vadailia Onions".............grown in Southwest Atlanta behind the building where the "Concerned Black Clergy" meets each week to plot out their media strategy.

I do not have an unachievable set of goal posts for the "Civil Rights Pharisees" to climb through before they can be deed worthy in my book.

The truth about the violent beating of Bradon White is:

1. If the video was not taken by one of the 1029 Jack City Gang members
2. If the video was not posted on Worldwide Hip Hop web site
3. If Brandon White were not a gay man with "gay taunts" being levied at him as they beat him

.................We would not be talking about this at all.

I ask you to switch the situation around for a minute.  IF 1-3 were not the case then are we just dealing with a situation of AWARENESS of what goes on every day (or likely every week) SOMEWHERE in the violent metro Atlanta area?

My argument then is not a call to DEMOTE the "Hate Crime" / "Civil Rights Violation" of beating a man BECAUSE he is gay.   I am calling for the Civil Rights Pharisees to do what I have always intended EQUALIZE ALL STREET PIRATE ATTACKS AGAINST ANY (BLACK) PERSON TO A CIVIL RIGHTS VIOLATION.

I believe that "The Civil Rights Pharisees Incorporated" understands that if indeed they proclaimed that "All Violent Attacks On Black People are equally worthy" they would have to hire a dedicated "Spokes Pharisee" to cover all of the press conferences that this new standard would generate.   Instead today key attributes of the ATTACKER and his motivations are the determining factor of the classification of the have to  crime.

I hadn't even heard of this malicious murder on Old National High Way about a month ago before reading about the legal proceedings in today's paper.   MOST ASSUREDLY if "DJ Outlaw" was a more "QUALIFIED"  killer that shot dead a Black man outside of a night club - this would have been a national story - just like the countless number of "White bar bouncer chokes a Black male patron" story that we have heard transacted for years and years.


Does A Brother Need To Be Gay To Get Respect And Justice?

I will refrain from turning this into a "BLAX News Network" dispatch but one can't miss the irony here.
In the case of Brandon White - his status as a homosexual turned a violent attack in the 'Pittsburgh Community' of Atlanta into a "hate crime" with national ramifications.

About 3 summers ago when I reported on the conditions of the community that I had to drive through every day to take my children to summer camp - I was talking about this same area - which is why I am so familiar with it.  The Salvation Army center is about 4 blocks away from the crime scene. 

As I drove these streets I noticed the number of people who stood out on the streets and they eye contact that they always made as I drove by.  I swear they thought that I was either the police or a "customer" of whatever they were "selling" - males and females.  This made it hard for me to pull out my camera to snap a picture of the action as I sought to provide pictorial evidence to back up my words.

There is no question that the "idle time" invested by many of the (young) people in this area was a gateway for trouble.  The constant background threat of violence and/or vice ensured that the "police/community relations" would remain tense.   The same police department that is a scoundrel for their harassment would the next day become the hero for "saving" a member of the community from the acts of another member of the community.

The fact that the beating of a gay man by a Street Pirate Gang has turned all eyes to this community ONLY advances the notion that "The Gays" are off limits.  This being proven by the fact that other violent enforcement actions of the "1029 Jack City Gang" go on without such concern.

I am not surprised to see that the "Civil Rights Pharisees", unable to find a gun to protest against - instead chose to go into the store and tell the owner that they are "gunning" to shut him down because THE STORE is a center of violence.

I drove by the "crime scene" yesterday.  (Twice - going and coming home from work).   Let me assure everyone that if Brandon White had been walking out of the "food desert" grocery store a block up the street, the co-op laundry further up the street or the nail salon across the street from it - he STILL would have gotten his ass kicked by the "1029 Jack City Street Pirate Gang".    The location was happenstance.  The Street Pirates just happened to converge on the victim due to timing and opportunity.   That tire that they threw upon him could have easily been a basket of clothing snatched from a woman walking out of the laundry.

The pattern of behavior by the Civil Rights Pharisees requires that they find a scapegoat to focus their outrage on (gun bans, racist district attorneys [See Bobby Tillman of Douglass County and how Rev Joseph Lowery tried to make the following community meeting after the murder into a rally against the DA]).

As I noted all along - since the "Civil Rights Pharisees" work off of EXTERNAL INDICTMENTS this is a necessary thing.   They understand that failing such a rallying point - intellectual honesty compels them to GO INWARD to find a demon, thus potentially putting themselves on trial.

The Black rank & file needs to provide boundaries that are more firmly delineated lest they continue to vie for camera time at the community's expense.

Surely a "brother doesn't need to be gay" to get equal treatment of his Street Pirate attack.
