In my sister blog "Surveillance Upon The Embedded Confidence Men Who Lurk Within Our Community Consciousness" I provided the proper analysis of Stanley Crouch's critique of MSNBC's "The Grio.com".
Mr Crouch called The Grio out for their focus on the "Bread And Circuses" of the entertainment industry, a system that provides the American populous with "empty calories". Mr Crouch failed to note that on the first column of "The Grio.com" is seen an endless repetitive loop of Political/Ideological dispatches that are indistinguishable to his own. Thus - he did not talk about The Grio's role as a political cog in the "Black Racial Services Machine". A cog that Mr Crouch himself is an important gear tooth upon.
The Black Press is the most important individual component in the "Black Racial Services Machine". The primary output of this machine is to spin the "exercise wheel", who's boundaries represent the landmass of "The Black Community" - its spinning motion providing the "Racial Gravitational Pull" that keeps all beings inside of the wheel effectively grounded. They are indeed expert in physics and planetary dynamics.
The Grio's founder David A. Wilson - a person that I heard cavorting with his MSNBC co-worker Al Sharpton on the "Keeping It Real With Al Sharpton Show" is an entity that I had forgotten about as I read the content of those he has recruited to fulfill his vision of extending MSNBC's message into the Black Community.
In his rebuttal it was important for Mr Wilson to call Stanley Crouch - "a Black Conservative". As a resident of metro Atlanta who has watched no less than 5 mayoral campaigns (and other offices) I understand the importance of labeling an opponent who's views are functionally indistinguishable from your own as that which other Progressive-Blacks will be able to read between the lines, thus allowing the rest of contents the "campaign commercial" to be accepted.
With this "When did you stop beating your wife, you Black Conservative?" taunt by Mr Wilson, I fully expect that Mr Crouch's next column will be titled "I Ain't No Stink'in Black Conservative, Don't You Read My Columns? I Proselytize Obama More Than You Do On The Grio".
The All Too Predictable Rebuttal From The Grio
Executive Summary
You see, Mr Wilson indeed shifted the debate from entertainment over to the important community service that his assembled band provide for the Black community consumer base that frequent his web site.
The Checklist Of "The Grio.com's Accomplishments"
- The 1 Year Anniversary Of The Haitian Earthquake
- (snicker, snicker) The Coverage Of The Voter Photo ID Laws That Threaten To Take Away Voting Rights Of African Americans
- The Congressional Black Caucus Jobs Tour
- Stories Criticizing "Street Pirate Voice Of Hip Hop" And Their Use Of The Word "Ninja" (After Criticizing Dr Laura For Calling It Out)
As I read "The Grio", "The Root", "Black Voices", "AfroSpear" and other "Progressive Who Are Black" information feeds - the primary attribute that one notes in all of them is that they speak from a perspective of the POPULAR PREVAILING CONSCIOUSNESS seen within the Black community, putting forth information that will attract their continuing loyalties.
The "dark matter"acquaintance with this strategy is the painful truth that our community must accept is that they also strident in their intention to never go against the prevailing sentiment of "The Black Racial Services Machine" - which they are a part of. Upon seeing the failure within our public schools after the take over by "favorable people" - The Grio.com is not going to stand in defense of the "Black Community's Permanent Interests" - demanding that "Their Friends" explain the shortfall of "returns on investment".
Note: Right now on "The Grio" is the war that I had predicted: Jesse Jackson and John Conyers are firing the warning shots against the Michigan state Republican efforts to seen an "Emergency Financial Manager" to run Detroit. Anyone who reads this blog will note that I stated a long time ago that in the face of the collapse of Detroit and other 'Mission Accomplished Cities' where the Black Community's interests have been molested - the rote response of these people who I call "Embedded Confidence Men" is to whip up the Black rank & file to see that the prime threat to the Black Community is seen by the state Republicans threatening to unseat Black and/or Progressive local officials that they voted for. This, the greater threat than the squandering of our INVESTMENTS and the INSTITUTIONS that are now collapsed.
The prevailing consciousness at "The Grio": - young, Black, progressive, Democratic Party loyalist (note: Listen to NPR's 'Tell Me More Program' - Dec 23 in which "The Grio's" Joy Reid is paired against Republican Michael Steele to give the 'Democratic perspective' on the "Payroll Tax cut")
Ms Reid noted that independent minded people who voted for Republicans in the 2010 elections are now seeing that the "blue plate special" that they had ordered up as they dispensed upon certain Democrats was not what they had ordered as the Republicans that they have voted for have gone off of the deep end.
What we must understand is that the consciousness of The Grio permits them to see how the Republican's are out of line with what the "people ordered". Ms Reid and her coworkers can't bring themselves to say the same damned thing about those who are in dominate control over 'Mission Accomplished Cities'. I don't need to be a Republican like Michael Steele who is inclined to defend his Republican party. I can stand as a Black man, doing longitudinal analysis of why the Black community has received so many "wins" in the areas that we have been compelled to invest in yet so many "losses" in the areas that matter the most to us.
The prevailing consciousness at The Grio.com is NOT going to do a transparent analysis of what they worked so hard to compel the Black community to invest in in 2008 and where the worth of our investments stand today. More accurately, however, I see that the proper debate is not over "What Has Obama Done For Us" - from which The Grio and The Root can produce a long checklist. The more astute observation is that we are on a 50 years long "Medial Treatment Plan" as voiced by the "Black Racial Services Machine" for our cure - and the more comprehensive journalistic review is to go back several decades and being to ask "WHAT FORCES ARE COMPELLING BLACK PEOPLE TO VOTE FOR OUR SALVATION and HOW ARE THEY PROFITING FROM DOING SO?"I Respect A CONSISTENT Muckraking Journalist To Fraudulent Operatives
"Democracy Now's" Amy Goodman should be the "reference progressive muckraking journalist". I don't need to agree with her motivations for me to respect her consistency.
I have more faith that she will call out any politician of any stripe that has violated her core progressive principles. She understands that the short term benefit of "Gotcha Reporting" will never achieve that which consistent and principled reporting and investigative journalism can accomplish.
YES - when I hear her and Juan Gonzalles (sp?) reporting about the "Arab Spring" and subsequent elections I hear them asking the foreign journalist about how "progressive" the new government will be. It matters less that they are "progressives" than it does that they would call out this new "favorable government" if it continued the abuses that the past government was guilty of.
Contrast this with the Neo-Black Progressive journalists. Though many of the primary reasons that Black people got into politics remain undelivered (quality education, etc) they see themselves pushing a "progressive agenda" and as such are unwilling to ask questions from the perspective of the BEST INTERESTS OF THE BLACK COMMUNITY and our "Return On Investment" IF such questions would cause "their team" to lose the next election.
What they can't bring themselves to see is that the majority of what they fear a "conservative government" doing to injure Black people..............is already being done by the incumbents that they favor.
