BLAX News: Obama Says "Black America's Stagnant Development Is Due To 'Laziness' ", Roland Martin Points To The Republicans For Making Us Lazy

TVOne/CNN's Roland Martin: Yes, Mr. President, Americans can be 'lazy'

On this blog I try to avoid "transactions" and instead build models that define what the aggregation of certain transactions describe in the way of the forces that bear down upon the Black community.

The latest data set that I will use to add to my model are the words from JingOist opinion offerer - Roland Martin.   The man who said at the 2010 National Action Network conference - "We need to do what is necessary to ensure that Obama wins the midterms so that the Black Agenda can be advanced" appears to have acquired magical powers that allow him to interpret what "Obama was really saying".

Each opinion writer has the power to take in what a given public official has said and then analyze it and reprocess it.   In the case of the "Intercessors To The Black Community" their job is to first look at the person who offered up the sage works into the public discourse and then package it up for delivery to the Black community based upon their choice to put their "thumb on the scale" in favor of the comments or to smash the scale with a baseball bat when their goal is to indict an unsavory figure as they express "feigned offense" to his intemperate words.

The Model For What JingOist Roland Martin Has Accepted As "Laziness"

Fresh from suggesting that the Chinese government "grow up" and act like an adult economically and with respect to global diplomacy, President Obama, looking past America's $15 trillion "temper tantrum" that China is buying up to keep us afloat until the fatal "diaper change" in our future and chose to act as the "adult in the room" in his next statement against American corporations.

Just to add some context here is MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell - Mr Martins' ideological soul mate - who also amplifies the President's "Lazy" comment by "Keeping The Enemy On Trial" for the purposes of indictment.

Now of course when it comes to the intramural (state by state) competition regarding where these foreign firms will invest their hundred-million dollar production plants and or offices - these same people are critical of the tax breaks and "corporate hand-outs" that GOVERNMENTS provide as a means of attracting them.  Lately the southern part of the United States (the South and the Sunbelt to the west) have been more successful at attracting large capital construction projects than have the states in the Northeast and West Coast.  What us typically attacked as 'Corporate Greed" in the context of the Progressive's attempt to strengthen the hand of government against their spoken enemy - is now called "Corporate Laziness" as it relates to these same corporations and governments attracting both increased sales of American made goods for export and increased investment dollars from foreign firms for US-based manufacturing.

I won't join the fray on the "Laziness" debate.  It is an empty attribute of  "gotcha politics".

My goal is to make note of that which these same Progressive-Fundamentalist voices (Martin and O'Donnell) are NOT willing to place a critical label upon - the machine that they have built up with the promises of making "the lazy" "Least Of These" into the "UN-Least Of These" - expect they would never call them "Lazy" as they know that angering them would cause a loss of confidence among those who they want to lead in the struggle against an external enemy.

Back to my "Model Building".

In the case of US Corporations and the Governments that should be marketing them to the rest of the world we have:
  • A Powerful Franchise that built itself up by executing upon the critical basics for success - Organic Productivity
  • From this Productivity - Benefit was spread to the masses contained within as a residual effect of them "doing the right thing".  The "constructive feedback" on their "correctness" was the uplift that had been observed among the masses.  This uplift affirmed the actions of their past "struggle" to amass power and using the system of government toward their favor
  • Over time these powerful franchises faced competition.  These competitors envied them and used them as reference models for their own efforts.  The original products (ie the Japanese and Koreans) were inferior to the American brand.
    • For example in the early 70's Honda car was viewed in the same light that a Hyundai was initially viewed when they came into the US market in 1986.  They steadily improved their quality and now are now recast in the eye of the American consumer as a "quality".   Hyundai is at the final stages of its recasting as well.  They have high end luxury cars under the Genesis and Equus labels
  • As competitors chipped away at the market share, the powerful American franchises that once could retain their market share and resulting pay rates for their employees and share holders (share value and dividends) due to the penned up loyalties of the consuming public began to deflate as they failed to adapt to the changing market that they needed to compete in.
  • As the gap between the "lifestyle" which all who were associated with them (management, employees, shareholders) demanded and the market realities grew larger - several of them filed for bankruptcy - along with many of their down stream suppliers
  • In their revival they were forced to scale down their "lifestyle" in line with the market realities that they now recognize as vital to their continued existence.  They learned that the consuming public, when given CHOICES, are going to move beyond what branding (and peer ostracism) might afford in the way of undeserved reward and instead seek to maximize their own consumer self-interests as they seek to maximize their utility at a minimized cost.  In other words Economics 101.
We all know that corporations (and government)  can be made a punching bag without fear of the same consequence that calling out a defined group of people would engender upon the name caller.  From my first hand experience as a business analyst I have come to see corporations as merely a collection of people.  Just as you have dysfunctional schools or fraternity chapters - so to is the case that a culture of incompetence can be produced among the human beings in a corporation.  Ultimately the corporation is merely the aggregation of a series of capital resources that are directed at producing a certain economic good with the goal of receiving a return on the capital investment.

If Mr Obama, with Mr Martin concurring are transparent enough to observe the resulting consequences of "Corporate/Government " actions of 'the last few decades' and conclude that it is a function of their "Laziness" - it stands to reason that we should be able to apply the model that captured their rise and fall upon other orchestrated activities.

As I said before the "opinionated gatekeeper" hold the power to select which entity they choose to indict and which they choose to run a protection racket for.   In the case of Roland Martin and other JingOists who claim that their primary interests for transacting in the "American Political Domain" is to make "America more fair" so that "Black people can be made to rise to a more equal level because of their perpetual handiwork with the Bobcat front end loader" - we should be able to apply a similar construct to the appraisal of their EFFECTIVENESS at achieving success in their mission - just as they have appraised the results of "lazy" corporations and governments.

The Perpetual Struggle For "Perpetual Congregational Ideological Unity" Of Black People Under The Guise Of The Modern Day "Civil Rights Movement"

The venerable Civil Rights "machine" was made into a powerful force that permanently reshaped America BECAUSE they produced a product that was closely aligned with the desperate NEED at the time of their heightened strength.
In this case it was the NEED for the American government to live up to its own Constitution in its treatment of all US citizens.  From this transparent enforcement the actions of the individuals who transgressed upon the rights of others due to their race was curtailed.  It was not that the violators changed their minds.  It was because if they turned their thoughts into the action of an assault - the law punishing the assailant for an assault without cause was extended to everyone.  This is called' equal protection under the law".

If we summarize the model from above and label it:
  1. Growth of a franchise via Organic Production in line with a need/demand
  2. The Spread Of Benefit of this franchise
  3. Challenge to the franchise by changing market conditions.  Survival based upon brand loyalty
  4. Resistance To Needed Changes as references to the glorious past where the "purpose" was clear crowds out new, visionary leadership and a change of course
  5. Implosion as the gap between the model captured via the Institutional Vision and the real world circumstances become insurmountable, resulting in an insolvent and bankrupt entity
  6. Revival within the new market place.  The institution, though diminished in its stature now operates in a manner that is more closely aligned with the present NEEDS of the market place based upon their transparent analysis of the marketplace.
    1. They will success if they stay agile
    2. They will erode further if they fail to be responsive as they assume "Market Leading Vision"

(Oh great - he is producing another slam job against "Black Leadership".  This is why "Black people don't like 'Black Conservatives".    REBUTTAL - Fine. Look at who YOU DO LIKE and how they can compel your investments, fail to produce sufficient returns and yet still stand say THEY define WHY the ENEMY caused them to fail - and how they need another deposit from you along with continued UNITY - IF we ever hope to defeat the enemy.   Rarely do you ever stop to think that you originally wanted TANGIBLE BENEFITS WHICH ALLOWED YOU TO PURSUE PROSPERITY.  Today you can be made to stop asking questions of the results as the 'Embedded Confidence Men' tell you that every vote of no confidence of THEM based on their results is a vote for the ENEMY.

Per the lack of self knowledge, where your interests are discrete - you never understand that this is all just a ploy to keep you thinking DEFENSIVELY and that if your enemy ever departed you - the proof of your lack of "Organic Production" would cause your certain death from starvation.  Not because of anything genetic about you but because of the failure to build up your institutions, protecting them from the usurpation that you actively participate in as your hatred and your lusts are used against you.
)

I hope that you will STEAL any of my views and integrate them into your own way of thinking.  The most effective way for the 'Embedded Confidence Men' to succeed with their "Conscious Attention Hijacking" is to perpetuate the void in "governance constructs" that exist WITHIN THE BLACK COMMUNITY.   I am not talking about "Government".  I am talking about the "Community Cultural Consciousness & Competency Development Domain".   This is the zone where the effective protection of our "Permanent Interests" reside - transcending all METHODOLOGIES that are hoisted up which purport to advance our interests.   Politics is but a METHODOLOGY.   Failing to inspect the EFFECTIVENESS of the political gateway for its "uplift benefits" mean that we become agents of the "Malcolm X Political Football Game" - having long ago forgotten the purpose for which we entered the field of play.  In fact  - those who dare remind the crowd what their purpose is and how they are off course might be shouted down by the group consciousness who demands SILENCE because they can't hear the audibles from the quarterback as they position themselves at the line of scrimmage.

"Lazy" As A Metaphor For "Misalignment"

Just as I frequently make the case that the ideologically based attack upon "The South" for purposes of hitting against the "Right-wing Governments" what have keep the people "barefoot and stupid" often refrain from going GRANULAR, beyond the state level, for fear of indicting specific groups of people - so too is the case that the "Lazy" label will only be safely applied to governments and corporations.

The same people who look at the EFFECTIVE RESULTS of American government machines at all levels as well as corporations - and then conclude "You Need Some Do Better Medicine" - they are also mindful that the very same thing should not be said directly to the "Rank & File" lest they rise up against you.   They dole out punishment for the insult to their pride, a pride which Mr Martin called "arrogance".

From the Roland Martin article
This is the problem with the stubborn belief in American exceptionalism: It assumes that no matter what the issue, Americans are the best in the world and can't be topped or beaten.
There is another word for this: arrogance.
Yes, it's true. Americans can be absolutely arrogant when it comes to competing with the rest of the world.
A few months ago I read a story where American college students were dismayed that they had to apply for jobs overseas. Well, if that's where multinational corporations are hiring, then we might have to learn to get a passport, hop on the plane, and learn how to Skype in order to talk to family members. Are we so arrogant to think the rest of the world is desperate to come here and we may not have to go to other countries?
We can't continue to act like our stuff doesn't stink. There are many areas where Americans are lazy, and in the words of President George W. Bush, we must end "the soft bigotry of low expectations."
Just imagine if Mr Martin was able to make an assessment of "The Struggle" that Black people were compelled to traffic in by the man who is pictured to the right - Bayard Rustin.

It is necessary to use the latter part of the decade of the 1960's as the line of demarcation for the Civil Rights Movement.   A few years prior the Voting Rights Act and the Civil Rights Act were passed, codifying the long quest for official recognition of Black people's equal standing as citizens into law.  The year 1968 was the fateful year in which Dr King was assassinated and his lieutenants were compelled by circumstance to take over his leadership duties in "The Struggle".

As the substantive victories in the passage of this legislation brought the Civil Rights Era to an end - instantiation of Bayard Rustin's vision for Blacks to "Vote Our Way Into Prosperity" appeared as the city of Cleveland OH redeployed the INSTITUTIONS which had been constructed to fight the classical Civil Rights Struggle - as the field forces committed to get Carl Stokes elected as mayor of the City of Cleveland.  The largest city at the time to elect a Black person as mayor.
(Note the mayoral elections were held in late 1967.  Stokes took office in January 1968. Rustin served as the voice to communicate the strategy for the development of the Black community in a gathering of Black Leaders after King's death.  [I own copy of "Brother Outsider" chronicling the life of Rustin.  This is the basis of my claims with my personal analysis added] )

Another great source of information on the intricate details of this "Black Community Development Strategy" is the recent book by the late Manning Marable - "Malcolm X - A Life Of Reinvention".   Marable details the series of debates between Malcolm X and Bayard Rustin as Rustin challenges the up and coming Malcolm X regarding how the Nation Of Islam's "non-political", religious based movement can effect the change of Black people by asking him to show any attempt that they have made for mass separation of Black people from the racist threat.

At that point in history Rustin was able to get the best of Malcolm X BECAUSE the "American Political Domain" was uncharted territory for Blacks who possessed a newly printed "voters registration card" in their hands.   As such Malcolm X was compelled to alter his world view - increasingly disagreeing with the NOI's belief that they must resist political engagement as the methodology for achieving prosperity in the Black community.

Upon completing the book by Marable I promised to write a separate blog post detailing the need for a new round of debates on the questions that Malcolm X and Bayard Rustin had tossed about.   TO-DAMNED-DAY we stand in the "Mission Accomplished State" as laid out by Bayard Rustin and other Black Progressive-Fundamentalists.  Despite the great losses that are evident in these 'Mission Accomplished Zones' as BLACK PEOPLE DID OUR PART - those who "Occupy Leadership Positions Within The Black Community" hover over the smoldering embers and proclaim that 'Black American's social justice rights have been violated by the enemy because they failed to provide us with SCUBA gear to prevent us from dying of smoke inhalation."

As they apply the power of "Establishment Authority Repudiation" the victories that they told us we have won by following them extend beyond the pain that we suffer despite all of the "help" they have brought home to us.  The enemy robbed them on the road home, stealing the majority of the cargo which they had booked for passage in Washington DC.

They execute "Keep The Enemy On Trial So You Don't Have To Indict Your Own Friends"  (note watch MSNBC's line up from 5pm till 10 pm to understand what I am talking about).

If there were even a need to do an assessment of the MISALIGNMENT between "Mission" and "Execution" it would be done today with regard to the "Black Racial Services Machine", seeking to determine which small percentage of their AGENDA still includes the uplift of the Black Community through the INSTITUTIONS they now control.

  • Are Our Schools Sufficiently Developing Our Young People?
  • Are Our Streets Sufficiently Safe To Make Our Communities Desirable As Residential And Retail Destinations? (Note Outsiders Coming INTO Our Community To Shop & Dine)
  • Are Our Marketplaces Developed Where Those Who Wish To Sell Their Labor Can Be Matched With Consumers Of Labor Who Themselves Are Selling To Retail Consumers With The Assistance Of Our Labor Input?
  • Have We Developed A Consciousness For Healthy Living And Relationships That Is To Be Propagated To Other People Both Inside And Out Of The Community?
ISN'T THIS what we originally began our STRUGGLE to acquire?
What has CHANGED besides our own CONSCIOUSNESS?

I believe that it is the BLACK PRESS who is too LAZY to execute upon this necessary task.
