The next "Civil Rights Struggle" for the Black Community will be WITHIN the Black Community.
The value of Black life is an unknown quantity.
To clarify - IN BOTH CASES a loved one watched as their family member was shot dead on the street and breathe his last breath. I do not wish this on anyone. I empathize with both of them because of their losses.
These two shootings appear to be different but they both have the same root cause.
The first is a shooting by a civilian who killed a Black man in the midst of a dispute and left his body in the street. (With all due respect) If the rest of the community had not respected the carcass as that of a fellow human being - the buzzards that are seen picking upon the road kill of deer, raccoon, armadillo and dogs that are often seen around Atlanta would gather upon this Black man.
In the second scene at the Vine City MARTA station - I predict that this shooting at the hands of a MARTA Policeman will trigger a greater indictment. A police man and the organization that he represents have far greater expectations placed upon them. By contrast little is expected of a "Street Pirate".
From the eyewitness view - the MARTA police man was in the wrong. I will wait for more facts to come out before I make my final analysis of the situation.
If you use the interactive map provided below to scale out just a bit you will see that what I told you a few weeks ago regarding the White Progressives who were protesting on behalf of Troy Davis, more than a week after his execution: The Vine City Section Of Atlanta is a VIOLENT AREA. If they were interested in JUSTICE - the more worthwhile actions would be to invest in the development of "Conflict Resolution Strategies" within the people of Vine City - just a few blocks away.
In the context of a street fight - someone chose to fire a gun in the air in close proximity to a public transit station. This was the incident that lead to the walk down the dark alley in which this deadly conclusion became the unfortunate end. I am not defending the officer at this point. My goal is to provide those of you who are not familiar with this particular area of Atlanta some additional context.
If you do not force those who believe that by forging a STRUGGLE against the state of Georgia to end the Death Penalty is addressing the largest proportional vector of homicide for Black males in metro-Atlanta then you should accept that you are complicit in their efforts at diversion.
They understand that while a government entity is ultimately bound by legal statute - a would be PILLAR OF THE COMMUNITY who was allowed to go awry while the Civil Rights Pharisees left the community to appear on some external stage for protests or self-congratulatory backslapping - now has the mindset of a STREET PIRATE. He DOESN'T GIVE A DAMN about any legal statute unless THE LAW is ENFORCED upon him.
