- AJC: Kasim Reed on extending Occupy Atlanta’s stay: Two out of three will suffice — for now
- AJC: Occupy Atlanta Gets To Stay In Woodruff Park
With a young mayor who himself was an "occupier" of an administrative building at Howard University - anyone who believed that Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed was going to enforce the clearly written statues on the legal use of Woodruff Park was kidding themselves.
This post AIN'T about the mayor.
As you listen to various "Fight The Power" talking heads they argue that the "Occupiers" are doing what the "Civil Rights Protesters" were doing at the start of their revolution. "Unjust Laws Are Rightfully Violated!", they say.
As we move beyond the cover that they provide for this movement for no other reasons than they agree with it, the truth is that they are guilty of the same arbitrary law enforcement that they attack their "unjust adversaries" as being guilty of.
They try to justify the violations of "urban camping" laws because:
- They are a peaceful assembly
- They have a cause of "Civil Disobedience" for "Social Change"
It must be said then that the reasons why the homeless who attempted to do the very same thing were run out of the park were done so because of their lack of purpose. Their purpose being - because they had no where else to go to live.
My primary criticism of Progressive-Fundamentalism - the reason why I call it "inorganic" is because it is a "struggle movement" that seeks to change the status quo. Its weakness is seen when it must BUILD a functional "state quo" - a stable foundation upon which a structure for society to be built upon. The rule of law for the people to yield their actions to is a mandate for an orderly society. In this case the "discrimination" in law enforcement as the homeless are not allowed to do what the protesters are doing - the government agents have mutually agreed to violate their own laws.
