With respect to the prevailing "Black (Progressive) Agenda" that dominates the politics WITHIN the Black Community - just as Schuyler said more than 60 years ago - there is no organic or original "Black thought" to be found in this space. It is instead a "lampblacked" soot covering on what is progressive/leftist to the core.
The majority of blogs that present themselves as "Black Progressive" blogs are little more than "Anti-Republican/Conservative" blogs. As I go there with open mind, looking to have my own viewpoint to be thoroughly challenged - I see what are "ideological congregational halls" where like-minded individuals assemble like moths in the presence of a bright light, receiving a recharge on what they already believe.
The Progressive Struggle
- The Gro: Angry Black Lady - The Confessions Of A So-Called "Obama-bot"
- The Politico - Obamabots Defend Obama On Twitter
Within the heralded pages of "The Grio" - "Our Lives, Our World, Our Stories - Brought To You By MSNBC" (I assume that "Our" means "Black People") is the notion that the "Black Permanent Interests" are advanced as Progressivism, Obama and the Democratic Party are advanced over its Conservative Republican enemy. As such the majority of the content is framed inside of "The American Political Domain" where these forces do battle on the football field.
Missing inside of Ms Gandy's rebuttal of the claims made by The Politico regarding the dissatisfaction on the left toward Obama and the passionate defense of Obama by the JingOists is the index of the Permanent Interests OF the Black Community and evidence that there is an entity WITHIN the Black Community that seeks to be "the keepers of the flame" as they refuse to allow political or ideological forces to hijack or pervert these interests.
Instead the article is all about perversion and hijacking - and this is seen as a good thing.
What we have here is yet another 'Alpha Donkey' kicking fight except "Smiley-West vs Sharpton-Perry-Joyner" or "Newark Brick City Progressive Faction A vs B" has been replaced by "Old-Line Progressive-Fundamentalist Blogs" (which came on line against the Bush Administration) versus "Pragmantic Obama Bots" who are committed JingOists.
Despite all of the dust that is kicked up in this matter - the one thing that will be lost is the transparent assessment of where the Black Community stands after making the key investments that were made from our consciousness. A discussion of the relative standing today as compared to just 3 short years ago will be spiked because such open dissent is said to give comfort to the enemy - Republicans.
If you notice carefully they are not debating our absolute stance. They are merely debating loyalties to Obama. Just as Smiley-West have erred by daring to appraise Obama using a "progressive measuring stick" the Obamabots seek to remind their progressive brothers in Clique B that this stick is reserved for adversary forces to be measured with.
This is the state of the Institutional Integrity WITHIN the Black Community. We have found that there is a force that is greater to the will for:
- Safe Streets
- Quality Education
- Thriving Local Economies
- Healthy Lifestyles and Relationship Outcomes
My Attempt At Correcting The Framing
Ms Gandy:
Should the Black community appraise "Obama" JUST by looking at "Obama"?
If you cast a look at the structure that Obama sits atop of - there is an architecture of Progressive Democrats in every seat where the Black community has at least a 33% say in who will represent their interests in various legislative and executive and judicial seats of power.
A discussion about the state of Black unemployment in the context of "Obama's Jobs Bill" is a transactional analysis. A discussion of "How Black People No Longer Catch Economic Pneumonia" almost 45 years after Bayard Rustin - the "Van Jones Of His Day" told Black people that our community would prosper IF we invested our "Equal Black Ballots" and fused our "Community Development Consciousness" into advancing Progressive Public Policy is the proper context for our present evaluation.
We are at the point of necessarily degrading our own "Community Institutional Integrity" in the unwillingness to TRANSPARENTLY assess our present state after so many decades of investment and demanding a "Return On Investment".
The real question, Ms Gandy, is "Are you advancing PROGRESSIVISM or are you advancing the Interests of the BLACK COMMUNITY" and as a result - "Where is the TRANSPARENT FRAMEWORK FOR ANALYSIS of our community advancement and the necessary controls to prevent Embedded Confidence Men who are advancing a set of theories at the cost of our ability to measure their efforts to our Permanent Interests and change course where needed?"
