Family Responds To Their Loved One's Murder At The Hands Of A Street Pirate In Dekalb County

You probably do not have the Flash Player (Get Adobe Flash Player Here) installed for your browser or the video files are misplaced on your server!

Though a Black family mourns at the loss of a loved one - THERE WILL BE NO PROTESTS.
While it is possible to compel the "State of Georgia" to stop rendering the death penalty by legislative decree - the people who failed to instill the proper CONSCIOUSNESS into the young people who God charged them with building up into Pillars Of The Community understand that the being which they created does not respond to their "Protest Rituals".

* A Street Pirate Doesn't Give A Damn That Your First Child Was Two Weeks Away From Being Born

* A Street Pirate Doesn't Give A Damn That You Have A Fiance

* A Street Pirate Doesn't Give A Damn That You Have An Aunt And Uncle Who Loves You

* A Street Pirate Doesn't Give A Damn That You Have A Mother And A Father At Home

* A Street Pirate Doesn't Give A Damn That You Were Going To Trade School In Order To Train Yourself Up In Support Of Your Future Wife And Unborn Daughter

A STREET PIRATE JUST DOESN'T GIVE A DAMN!!!!!!

At this stage in the formation of the consciousness of a Street Pirate the best safety measure that one can deploy is to avoid being caught as the middle man between where he stands and the object of desire that he wishes to obtain by any means necessary.   Elimination of a human defender or destruction of a security device used to prevent his conquest are the most common targets for his attack.

I am intimately familiar with the "Mainstreet" area of Dekalb County.
15 years ago this was the "place to be" for young Black families.  This particular subdivision offered the best in suburban living in the growing Stone Mountain/Lithonia Georgia area to the east of Atlanta.  The murder victim would have been just 5 years old at the time that my wife and I looked at the area but chose to move elsewhere.   Despite the fact that the majority of our friends lived in the area - the traffic congestion at the tail ends of the workday knocked this place out of consideration.

All of my friends have since moved away as well as they had children.  Nearly all of them have moved to neighboring Gwinnett County in pursuit of higher quality schools.

It is likely that both the murder victim and his killer(s) matriculated through the community and the schools.   Somehow the adults that were charged with sculpting these would be "Pillars Of The Community" fell short in their efforts to do so.

Instead a portion of them were allowed to morph into the consciousness of a "Street Pirate".  They are now the main terrorists WITHIN this stable, all-Black, middle class community.    Someone failed to teach them about the value of life.  About the danger that their gun-play places other people who might be hit as they miss their intended target.

What could have caused these young people with the consciousness of a "Street Pirate" to believe that Keith Vaughn had done something that was worthy of the "Street Pirate Death Penalty"?

In as much as it is true that imagery of lynchings and "Civil Rights Murders" still ring powerfully through the Black community the "Street Pirates Riding On 24's" who murdered the 20 year old Mr Vaughn seem to be possess by the same spirit of the tormentors of the Black community from the past.  The key difference is that their consciousness was crafted from WITHIN the Black Community.

While I personally condemn murder, I recognize there is a segment of society that embraces it and other degenerate, hurtful acts. Often the "victims" are part of that segment. May he rest in peace and may his family and friends find the forgiveness that apparently escaped his murderers.

It is true that what I refer to as "Street Pirate On Black" murders are many times "Street Pirate on Street Pirate murders". (Note there is no racial element of a "Street Pirate". It is defined as any person who morphs into becoming the #1 threat to his community).

The problem is, however, that THE COMMUNITY that was charged with sculpting their human resources into its own "pillars" has failed to engage these individuals. As such the consciousness that they have developed becomes the threat to the community largely due to the COMMUNITY'S unwillingness to change, applying proper governance and cultural means of obtaining correction.

I do not think that it is enough to say "let them kill each other". As we see with the stray bullets flying and the grieving women who have been victimized (due to the loss of a family member) they are the unintended victims of it all.

While it is true that they as mothers might indeed be part of the "benign neglect" that allowed the Pillar to turn into a Pirate - she as ONE INDIVIDUAL - at minimum had at least one MAN to assist her in bringing this person into the world. Then we expand to look at the other adult members of the community to note how they dropped the ball. Most surely the INSTITUTIONS within the community have failed. While the other adults can come and go - it is the institutions that provide the stability - and even the attraction to the area or, unfortunately the revulsion when the institutions fail.

Our problem as a Black community is that - in the quest for POLITICAL POWER - the INSTITUTIONS have been "Pimped" into the MALCOLM X POLITICAL GAME and have lost so much INTEGRITY that many of them can't be trusted to field a FIX upon the community.

Their main goal is CONGREGATIONAL UNITY - where the emotional loyalty to "the team" trumps good governance of the area around it.

Unfortunately many of them don't open their doors to the greater community to allow their "air conditioning" to spread out into the community.

Yet when Street Pirates steal their HVAC units for scrap metal then their members are forced to experience the natural elements from the heat that they must suffer through.

We need an INSTITUTIONAL INTEGRITY REVIVAL.

The community of "MainStreet" used to be a marquee place for Middle Class Blacks in metro Atlanta to move toward. Not only do we have this - but the leadership at nearby New Birth Missionary Baptist Church has also shown evidence of corrosion.
