Have you ever seen how airline price increases work?
One or two airlines raise their rates and then "look around" for a few days to see if their competitors "bite", raising their rates as well. If the competitors in the oligarchy do not follow along - the first two that lead the way with the price increase are forced to lower their rates lest they stand out like "sore thumbs". Either the industry stands together with a price increase OR the consuming public will "punish" those who lead the way by refusing to purchase their tickets - instead choosing those who maintained the previous line of pricing.
This same oligarchical behavior is seen in the Black Establishment "Ideological Unity Enforcement" program.
DeWayne Wickham - having seen what happened to Tavis Smiley after he merely dared to discuss the need for a FRAMEWORK upon which the Black Community would criticize Obama - JUST AS THEY DID ALL OF THE 43 WHITE MEN BEFORE HIM - Tavis Smiley was thrown out of the Black Progressive-Fundamentalist "Neo-All White Jury" which serves as the political eyes and ears for Black America. (I said before - I have no empathy for Tavis Smiley in this matter. He was an active ideological assassin when he was a member in good standing. Today he shown no evidence of ENCAPSULATING his former friends into such an framework where they too can be checked as our permanent interests are promoted).
Above is the Black unemployment rate from January 2009 through to March 2010 - the last sent of numbers that are available at this present time.
The real question that this data set should bring forth is "Why Now, Mr Wickham?". Why is it now that Mr Wickham is concerned about the failure of the Obama Administration's policies to reduce Black unemployment - despite the promises and despite the active protectionism that the Black Press has afforded Obama.
It is understandable that Mr Wickham believes that President Obama deserves an interval of time to identify the problems, forge legislation, get it through Congress and field it on the road to address the problem.
To be clear - I applaud Mr Wickham for the question in that many of his cohorts would be appeased with an article which said "IF the stimulus package had been twice as big - the Black unemployment rate would have now been cut in half. Obama failed BECAUSE he failed to fight harder against the Republican opposition". In the frequent slight of hand techniques in which Black people are uses as the "peanut under the cup" - Obama is appraised by how much fidelity he has to Progressivism and how much he fights against the Republican enemies of Black America and America in general.
The references to RACISM is used even more frequently. The report that a "Black man with a degree has a harder time at getting a job in New York than a White man with a criminal record" is the foundation of ample public policy proposals for many who echo this investigative finding. These same people are loathed to detail how Blacks with college degrees have an unemployment rate that was until recently BELOW the national average of all Americans.
The one point that is rarely brought forth is the 3 dimensional architecture of political power WITHIN the Black community. To look toward Obama as the key to Black employment provides them the opportunity to look past the players at the lower rungs of the hierarchy who they provided journalistic cover for during the ascension of the machine into POWER - as represented by Obama in the White House. In a documentary that I saw a while back it was stated that "democracy is seen not in the office of the central government but is evidenced in the distribution of government through to the periphery". It stands to reason then that the promises made to the Black community as we were asked to support various municipal and state-level operatives because there would be material advantage provided to our community that Mr Wickham and his partners in "The Trotter Group" should be reviewing their past columns and go back and demand an accounting.
The Facts About Black Employment
This web page from the Bureau Of Labor Statistics is powerful.
It clearly shows the connection between education (the ability to make Blacks qualified for a new range of job opportunities - or create new ones in support of our community's needs) and the success at obtaining employment.
Unfortunately - just as with the National Urban League's "State Of The Black America Report" is delivered straight to the GOVERNMENT as they are asked to "do something" - it appears that these charts will also be used as a demand for more government money sent into the educational system.
The government is asked to prioritize its spending.
The Black community is rarely asked to place a hard line in which we choose to invest our time and POWER in the cause of sculpting our our children. Instead we are asked to fight in the political domain, remaining unified, until we get THEM to give OUR children what we need to become equal. Sadly this also creates the rational fall back which says "Since THEY did not give us what WE need to be EQUAL then while we are INFERIOR - it is not from our own making".
“Take Back The Black Community Consciousness". It has been hijacked by embedded operatives who don't intend to develop the COMPETENCIES within. We once controlled this consciousness, focusing our activism directly upon our permanent interests. Today the "Malcolm X Political Football Game" has us as starters and some believe that this playing time translates into absolute progress for our people. My goal is to hold our permanent interests in their faces, forcing them to explain their actions.

I generally don't agree with many of your post. But this one begins to ask important questions and raise critical issues. At least you are pointing out these issues and not waiting for the Washington Post or NBC controlled black corporate blogs to point these issues out.

Brother AAP:
If the standard INDICTMENT registered on behalf of this President is that "None of his predecessors had to endure {fill in the blank}" then most assuredly we will find no other point in time during our freedom at which the BLACK COMMUNITY has been so silent, passive and compliant in the wake of not only the STATISTICAL RESULTS - but the decades of promises that allowed us to walk behind the machine which has our support.
THIS POST IS LESS ABOUT OBAMA - as it is about the organized establishment that is so interested in SELLING the BLACK CONSCIOUSNESS to the highest bidder - that its SILENCE and COMPLICITY can be purchased.
I say again - THEY KNOW that by asking questions too hard NOW - those who seek transparent truth will have to do investigative reporting OF THEMSELVES for they are part of the compliant message.
