I am proud of the American Special Forces that doggedly tracked down the #1 most wanted man on America's hit list for his orders of several attacks on America and other targets around the world.
When Bin Laden got that iPhone as a present last year he should have been made aware of its ability to track one's location [ :-) ].
I have little sympathy for Bin Laden. His indiscriminate terrorist actions have in America and Bali (for starters) have killed thousands of people around the world. This is just due for his actions.
While the successful targeting and take out of this terrorist is a symbolic victory for the "American War On Terrorism" for President Obama, and for America's Armed Forces who have put their hides on the line as they battle in-country - I have to admit being a bit put off by the outwardly jubilant displays that have been shown taking place all around the country.
For me - I can't see myself going to a public celebration over Bin Laden's death. The source of their ecstatic display seems puzzling to me. There are plenty of other issues that are transpiring in America today that warrant angry protests that PROVE that the American public love their nation and don't want it to be destroyed by fiscal insolvency which will hurt us all more than the 9/11 attacks. These public displays can't ever turn out to be more than a jingoistic release of frustration from "our side" while a provocation to - NOT from the "other side" but to those in the present battle zones that have a bit of resentment for the present US occupation of their countries. This is NOT an attempt to make equal the indiscriminate terrorism ordered by Bin Laden versus American lead wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya. This is merely to state that everyone does not have the same perspective that we commonly have in America.
Just as the pictures of outward celebration by groups of people in various Muslim nations that incensed Americans after certain brutal attacks on Western interests over time, the feeds from various celebrations that have taken place around the nation will have a similar effect. I think that Americans should have been warned to temper their celebrations.
“Take Back The Black Community Consciousness". It has been hijacked by embedded operatives who don't intend to develop the COMPETENCIES within. We once controlled this consciousness, focusing our activism directly upon our permanent interests. Today the "Malcolm X Political Football Game" has us as starters and some believe that this playing time translates into absolute progress for our people. My goal is to hold our permanent interests in their faces, forcing them to explain their actions.

You cannot temper what people feel. We are (still) free to express ourselves in this country as long as we don't physically harm another.
Also, you do not tiptoe around a bully, it gives them more power. I am concerned about our troops overseas also, when some preacher here was burning the KKKoran, but supposedly, what are we and they over there fighting for???? For censorship in the US?? For us to walk on eggshells when it comes to freely expressing ourselves and our opinions about anything because some threaten more violence?? I guess that's what it comes down to ... who is more willing to get violent. I was very disappointed in General Petraeus' speech recently.
If a person had a loved one killed in 9/11 and had a passionate personality, they perhaps would be celebrating right now at the White House or in New York. I would not deny them this expression of release.

Olive:
Please re-read my post.
I wondered WHERE the "jubilance" is coming from out of these people.
There is a difference between saying "Good for the Bastard" versus using this as a prompt to take to the streets holding a "V for victory" sign up.
Again - (you are correct) - I have no power over the people to tell them what to be publicly happy for.
I can ONLY try to erect a matrix of "Happy Items", "Items that SHOULD BE Of Concern" and then document how close MY MODEL is to the real world.
I reserve the right to make note of people's long term GRIEVANCES and then posit my view as to why they KEEP WINNING (per the celebrations) yet keep LOSING - per the statics - and then make note of THIS MISALIGNMENT as the possible cause.
Respect
I understand.

Hastily buried at sea? Why?
Perhaps if the dimwits who are celebrating in the streets took a moment to read Bin Laden's Declaration of War in 1996 they would understand the US' culpability.
Sheep. Pathetic and scary all at the same time.
