Because the South is a critical region for Republicans in presidential elections, "all the Democrats have to do is pick up a couple Southern states, and Republicans are in trouble."
Notice how Professor deHaven-Smith is more interested in the notion that the Democrats might pick up some Southern states due to demographic flows into the South rather than showing any intellectual curiosity as to WHY the "Northern states" are being depopulated. This despite having favorable policies and thus avoiding the angst of Rachel Maddow and her side kick Eugene Robinson.

Among the new black suburbanites are Ray Taylor, 34, and his wife, Marcia, 33. Four years ago, they moved from Atlanta to the northern suburb of Alpharetta, Ga., about 20 miles away, seeking better schools and a wider range of community activities. They now have two small children, ages 4 and 1.
Taylor, a political independent who voted for Democrat Barack Obama in 2008, said he also liked having more exposure to people of different racial and political backgrounds. Compared with Atlanta, Alpharetta has a broader mix of whites and Hispanics and tends to lean more Republican.
"We wanted to be close enough to access the city and have the best of both worlds," he said
The story STILL gets it wrong because it fails to address the ironies that are abundant in the actions that the US Census has documented.
Whereas the prevailing POLITICAL chatter WITHIN the Black community has us all focused on the threat from White Supremacy, which threatens to snatch back our forward progress at every turn - the irony of where we presently stand is missed by most. The "Civil Rights" protections that today cast a punitive rebuke upon any "White racist" who dares violate the:
- Housing Rights
- Public School Attendance Rights
- Work Place Rights
- Right To Fair Treatment By The Suburban Police Force
have opened up these "conservative", White suburbs as hospitable places for Black Americans to live.
This shows me that "Racism Chasing" proves to be a key component of the "Ideological Unity Enforcement" actions of the Black Establishment and all of its operatives who bear down upon us. (Listen to WAOK AM for professional "racism chasing" on display.).
I have previously argued the importance of DISTILLING the essence of "White Supremacy" as a means of obtaining a better understanding:
- They Violently Assault Black People As A Means Of Terrorizing Blacks To Keep Them In Their Place
- They Deny The Conditions Necessary To Produce Quality Education Which Would Otherwise Allow Blacks To Develop The Strategic Competencies Necessary For Independence
- They Undercut Black Business Operations Which Are Needed For Blacks To Engage In Market Exchange And Produce Employment For Our People
- They Disrupt The Pathway Toward Healthy Living And Strong Relationships Within The Black Community
The "embedded confidence men" who profit from our "unity" behind THEIR agenda seek to place a (racial) face upon the assailant who violates us using these bullet points above. They are loathed to note that the "spirit" which allows one man to cast any of these assaults upon the Black community known NO racial boundary. Thus despite the fact that several murders that metro-Atlanta have been treated to this week are not labeled as "Civil Rights Violations" against the Black person who now resides at the funeral home, his public viewing scheduled for this Friday.
Ironically - these "Non-Civil Rights Violation" Violations are the very threats that the "Black Flight Progressives" are exiting from the "Mission Accomplished" enclaves about. In the debate over who can be a "racist" the claim is that one needs POWER to cast terror over a unique population of people. In their own will to deny the POWER of the modern day "Street Pirate Confederate Sympathizers" to reign terror - they would have us to believe that such a label is valid.................ONLY IF THEY ACCEPT IT AS SUCH. The parallel outcomes be damned.
The Black Consumer Of Community Standards
Few Black Press Operatives have the will to frame the argument as I dare to do so. The "Mission Accomplished" areas are seen for their "corporate abandonment" (as was said about Newark NJ in the "Mean Streets" documentary which looked there and at Oakland CA). The racism that was present when the enemy of Black people were present continued as they departed due to RACISM - leaving us all alone within these cities - the political boundary that now exists between "us" and where they now reside also establishing the "taxation" boundary" and the boundary for public schools. "WE" now occupy the seats of power after a series of election victories but their departure prevents "us" from imposing a new policy order upon "them" (and their corporations) because they have moved away.
As time moves forth - a visit by a city dweller to a suburban enclave reveals to her how much her home community has been a victim of "redlining" and neglect. While the grocery stores in the suburbs are fully stocked with fresh produce - the "Food Desert" where she now resides is full of unhealthy food choices. Any produce sold in an open market is not only dated .........the airborne particles from the "Environmental Racism" that is allowed to transpire in what is now a "city of color" now settles upon these agricultural goods on display - for ingesting by our victim.
Such a sight provides the impetus for a new STRUGGLE. The previous struggle which launched "favorable people" into power is now rechristened into a movement to "bring equality" between the "mission accomplished cities" and the "White Flight Suburbs". The new establishment in the city avoids punitive scrutiny which measures the gap between their promises and the results delivered because they adeptly shifted their message from "delivery" of a better living within their boundaries over to the need to make the border walls between the city and suburbs more permeable so that tax resources can flow more freely.
The Southside of Metro-Atlanta is a reference model of this effect.
The law enforcement and residency policies that were called "accommodationalist", welcoming all regardless of their income and social class, ironically precipitated the exodus of the "Black who could move" - away from the zone who's policies they were complicit in erecting. As the Atlanta Housing Authority razed its housing projects in favor of mixed income communities - the former residents moved to the "First Ring Cities" (Clayton County, for example).
The crisis in the Clayton Count school system triggered an exodus of "Black Flight Progressives" into the "Second Ring Counties" (Coweta, Fayette, Henry, Rockdale, Douglas County) on the southside.
Few people dare point out the ultimate irony that in assuming residency right next door to their conservative, Republican, White ideological and political adversary - the Black Flight Progressive believes that his PERMANENT INTERESTS as a Black family is more assured by doing so.
The shift in INDICTMENTS dutifully shifts from the necessary scrutiny of the policies & assumptions that allowed the "Mission Accomplished" domains to fail over to a careful watch of their long time enemies to ensure that they express no hint of RACISM against their new neighbors.
When all is said and done the question must be asked: "While we see that legal protections can defend the Black residential CONSUMER of a suburban ecosystem - What evidence has been expressed via the modern day political and ideological disposition that dominates Black America that WE are able to ORGANICALLY create the favorable living conditions that we wish to CONSUME?".
The sad truth is that our grand vision for a great society is squandered based on the TRANSACTIONAL considerations of the issues that pass before our eyes. The "embedded confidence men" realize that our community that had previously committed to "go due North" can be driven southward - one degree at a time, never realizing the course diversion that they have been ensnared into. By playing on the emotions of Black people on an incidental basis one can get us to "act against our permanent interests" and cheering ourselves for doing so.
My problem is that the "hijackers" never seem to be held accountable for the discombobulated outcomes that they produce in the macro scheme of things.
When a national political conflict comes about - we only need to be reminded that the Southern States are the Confederate States. Despite a stead flow of Blacks from failed "Mission Accomplished States" back into these "Confederate States" - the inference will have its intended effect.
"They still believe that we are fighting the Civil War" should not just be reserved for the White bigot.
