Not a single observer tried to help or at least call 911?? This in itself is maddening enough.

It's sad that the dynamics in our country are set up as such that ... if it were White boys that attacked this boy, Obama would be giving a national speech and even more federal "hate" crimes legislation would be written, because some crimes are more equal than others. And White people all over the country would self-flagelate, self-examine and fear violent payback, and the liberal Whites would blame Sarah Palin and try to find out if the kids' parents were Republicans, and Blacks would be marching on Washington with Jesse and Al leading the parade.

In a way, if the perpetrators were White and the media got ahold of this story, this child would get more justice and assurance of future safety than he will now ... because from the President on down, to the governor of his state, the mayor of his city and Blacks and Whites of good faith everywhere would be up in arms to make sure as much as they could, that this child would never go through something like this again. Sadly, the violent assailants of this boy are Black and if this boy and his family were to move to another Black neighborhood, there would be no guaranty that it wouldn't happen again. In fact, we all expect that it could, and we wring our hands over the fate of this promising young Black man because he is growing up in such a racist and oppressive country, yet where a young Black man's most lethal enemy is another young Black man.

Because of what is considered "newsworthy" in our dysfunctional culture and because human nature is slow to honestly self-examine and re-assess (because it is painful), and quick to point the finger at others and deflect taking responsiblity (because its so easy and feels good), and because more often than not, certain Whites are cowards when it comes to being called the "R" word, so they will not speak the truth as they see it (and even discount what their own eyes behold because they have been so brainwashed by liberals to believe that their "racism" colors everything they observe) and certain Blacks are cowards when it comes to abandoning the beloved "N" word, holding on to it like a cherished relic from America's slave past and re-inventing it as a comfortable trump card whenever self-examination and responsibility call them to step up to the plate to become "equal human beings," I fear that our country will never solve its black/white racial problems. It's too lucrative a business for the politicians, and too easy to keep the gullible populace wallowing in either false guilt and unproductive giving of funds or false righteousness and unproductive unity. The only thing one can do is to have the courage to speak the uncomfortable truth as one sees it, for the sake of future generations.
