This is one "portrait upon the wall" that is worthy of historical reference. This is AME Bishop Henry McNeal Turner. He was a "Reconstruction Era Community Organizer" who in the face of brutal assaults suffered by the Black community told everyone in the community to arm themselves to protect themselves.
As "Black Codes" and "gentleman's agreements" made with store owners were erected to deny Blacks the ability to acquire guns and ammunition there indeed was an "illegal gun trade" which ignored the law as the laws were unjust and oppressive.
The key difference between back then and today AND the reason why today's (so called) "Pro-Black community organizers" are not calling for those who suffer from the threat of violence in their communities and need protection is - for no other reason than - the STREET PIRATES ARE ALSO BLACK.
We must understand where the problem resides by contrasting these two periods of time. I agree - the CONSCIOUSNESS that was prevalent during the "Jim Crow South" pointed to a culture that produced dysfunctional people who were prone to violence as a means of having their way against a certain target. I will even make the case that some people are prone to agree that a segment of today's society have a dysfunctional consciousness. This produces the violence that we all see.
The point of disagreement comes down to who is responsible for the consciousness that is present. Those who are prone to "expand the police tape around the crime scene" seek to look past the local seats of power in these same communities that they have taken control over as they look for the closest indictable force for them to struggle against. This perpetual struggle denies the opportunity for their theories to take the witness stand and justify itself in the midst of this carnage. For no other reason than "congregational consensus" - that witness is allowed to sit in the public viewing area - watching the trial but never being asked to testify.
Gun Control Is "Supply Chain Control"
As Martin Luther King III meets with Mayor Bloomberg of New York - few of the Black Activists who rail against the "Prison Industrial Complex" will note that the gun laws fortified by Mayor Bloomberg are responsible for the "Stop and Frisk" policies that have paved a pathway for young Black males into jail.
When given two conflicting points - silence is pointing out the consequences of their theories is often the result.
In a departure from the demands against their Southern tormentors the gun-control activists of today are working to control the manufacturers, gun retailers and gun shows transactions. This time those who are heard demonizing the "most proficient KILLERS OF BLACK PEOPLE" are themselves at risk for being called racist haters of Black people, painting us as "criminals". It is these type of "enforcements" and "denials" that have us in the place that we are today.
Yesterday I listened to radio host Bev Smith with an gun control advocate on her show. She marvelled at how the shooting by a "White male" in Tuscon AZ triggered a national discussion on gun control yet the constant killing OF Black males barely raises an eyebrow any more. She noted how "Tea Parties" gathered at political rallies, strapped with guns and noted the provocation which lead to our present violence. Ms Smith was contented when the (White female) guest agreed with her that has a group of Black people gathered together on public grounds, strapped with guns, that the police would have had them all "laying on their stomachs and under arrest".
Right this second I am watching a recording of the "Larry O'Donnell Show" for the purposes of hearing how he would speak to the departure of the previous host. Mr O'Donnell is condemning the gun manufacturers, particularly those who make "high capacity clips" are responsible for selling tools to "the merchants of death". 34 people people murdered by guns each day in America - yet the most passionate condemnation comes against those who craft the tools. The pattern of inferiorizing the killer as automaton-omatic attributes are rained upon the piece of steel and plastic is the constant pattern heard and seen.
The Benign Neglect Which Incubated The Murderous Consciousness Of The Street Pirate
Martin Luther King III than many others have yielded the question about the damaged consciousness that is possessed by an individual who, IF GIVEN AN AUTOMATIC WEAPON - would use it to cut another human being in half.
This logic says that an otherwise unassuming person, if given the tools would carry out this murderous action against the individuals who has the misfortune of living in close proximity to them. They are loathed to talk about the CONTEXT in which these murderous tools are used by these "equal human beings". They assume a muted silence when a hyper-focus upon these conditions over which their ideology presides over is brought under discussion.
The only time that the progressive-fundamentalist is willing to show the murder that is taking place in their "Mission Accomplished Zones" is when they can transact these images of bloodstained side walks for the purposes of showing the NEGLECT that the greater society has cast upon these areas.
I say society left a particular ideology ALL ALONE, ALL BY ITSELF and now it is proving that it is IN-ORGANIC. Unable to produce desired benefits when it is the predominate force in a given space.
It is only an ACTIVIST force. It needs some countervailing force to struggle against. Remove that barrier against which they push and the people who put their confidence fall down................the purveyors remain standing tall.
A the police as asked to more aggressively remove these tools from the waistbands of those who have shown a proclivity to rain murder on the streets - the police will eventually become the target of scorn for their practices. The main people who are failing the community will go unscathed. It is the "community organizers" who have the perfect tenor and pitch - to always be on the "Right Side" of the Issue - representing the voice of the community.
Until the community itself seeks to calibrate its own bearings and makes note of who has mis-lead them thus far - no amount of government oppression of gun ownership rights is going to stop the higher than normal rate of killing on the streets.
The diagram above shows the problem. When the threat was clearly external - the guns were aimed outside of the community against those who came in to rain terror. Today the long guns are aimed at a more proximate threat WITHIN the Black community. From an INDIVIDUAL perspective the gun fire is for SELF-DEFENSE. Unfortunately the threat just happens to be a neighbor. They are not fighting over the COMMUNITY'S PROTECTION. Instead they are most often seeking to protect the racket that they are running within the community.
Sadly the quest for MOTION through ACTIVISM prevents those who are frequently seen on a stage with a microphone in front of their mouths are unwilling to accurately assess the situation publicly. This would cause a bit of self indictment of their actions.
“Take Back The Black Community Consciousness". It has been hijacked by embedded operatives who don't intend to develop the COMPETENCIES within. We once controlled this consciousness, focusing our activism directly upon our permanent interests. Today the "Malcolm X Political Football Game" has us as starters and some believe that this playing time translates into absolute progress for our people. My goal is to hold our permanent interests in their faces, forcing them to explain their actions.
