"They Are Taking Back America" Watch: "The 'North Side Of The County' Seems To Have Their Libraries Open In Dekalb

Today I went out of my way to listen to "Fight The Power".
The (Black) President had spoke to the nation.  I have purposefully switched my personal media consumption habits, reducing my monitoring of both right & left, instead going back to the financial channels (Bloomberg and CNBC or even NPR).   The day after the "State Of The Union" I knew that the financial community would have a very different take on what Obama said as compared to "Fight The Power".  I was not disappointed.

 More on that later.

How The Establishment (That "THEY" Put Into Power) Retains Their Power Regardless Of The Results

The picture above is the present make up of the Dekalb County GA Board Of Commissioners.   The southern part of Dekalb is majority Black.  No surprise that all of its representatives are Democrats.  The northwestern part of the county (around Emory University) had the highest concentration of the combination of "War Is Not The Answer" & "Obama Biden 2008" signs a few years ago attesting to the left-ism of these group of White folks.

The only reason why I am not willing to say that every single one of these (White) board commissioners are Democrats is because at least one of them represent the new city of "Dunwoody" that has been carved out of the once unabridged and unincorporated part of land who's tax dollars flowed directly into the county coffers.

As these White folks people in Dunwoody sought to incorporate into a city as a means of retaining their tax dollars closer to home, allowing their municipal service interests that had gone unaddressed to receive focus - "Fight The Power" was up in arms.  These selfish people didn't care about the interests of the entire county.  They were following after their counterparts in the city of Sandy Springs - stripping the county of needed revenues by incorporating into a city of their own.

Dunwoody encompasses the largest business district of the county and the condos and high-end apartments that surround them.

The phrase "The North side of the county"  refers to the White folks this part of the county.  Though the Buford Highway district has an abundance of organically grown Asian and Hispanic businesses which allow them to have a "local option sales tax" - specific to their region, they are not the target of the phrase "The North side of the county".

A caller on "Fight The Power" told of the case where a brand new library in South Dekalb remained unopened .  The county apparently had not budgeted money to staff the new facility.

Dekalb Crossroads News: New Libraries Collecting Dust, Remain Unopened Awaiting Funding

The caller's goal was to prompt "Fight The Power" into action in support of the Black people of  South Dekalb who, once again, are suffering from the inattention from the political powers in the county.  The ones that jump when the "North side" tells them to.

If you ever want to know how certain establishment powers retain and grow their power, regardless of the results they register - look no further than the line of reasoning that is fomented on "Fight The Power" radio.  It doesn't matter that they may have personal assisted in seating the balance of "favorable people" upon the county board which made the fiscal priorities for the county.  The power of the indictment that the "North side of the county has all of their libraries open and their children are learning because of it" is enough to provide cover to any commissioner who is wise enough to jump on board with their rhetoric to walk away with a reelection victory.

  • It doesn't matter if the commissioner has presided over an erosion of the economic base of his district.
  • It doesn't matter that Dekalb County will be a new location for "the First 48" crime reality show per the abundance of crime to keep the producers busy. (More on this later)
  • It doesn't matter about the "common knowledge" that the substitute teacher told me 2 years ago about how Memorial Drive represents the dividing line between the "good schools" in the north and the schools with discipline problems on the south side - that he desperately avoids unless he needs the money that week.
The best way to retain your seat is for the voters in South Dekalb to "remember you" as the person who "stood up for them" when it mattered the most.  This point is less about actual deliverables in the area of economics, safe streets and quality education than it is about the ritual of "standing with them"at the time in which an "indictment operation" is in full effect.

The "enemy" shows his face to them by pulling out a "present balance of accounts" ledger and doing their best Cuba Gooding Jr rendition: "Show Me The Money".   Asking them such a question is evidence of a person who stands against their interests.  Those who emote the greatest amount of indignation over the "racial slight" will fortify their reelection chances.

The Need For 14 Skilled Adults To Provide The Children Access To A World Of Knowledge

Later on in the radio show the "Fight The Power" radio show talked about a new model for job creation in support of Obama's call for new competitiveness .

The challenge with the public libraries seemed to me like the challenge faced for the last 100 years regarding rural towns that needed fire services.  The array of "volunteer fire departments" around the nation today speaks to the need for critical municipal services combined with that post Katrina t-shirt phrase "We All We Got".   In order to achieve the standard of living that they desired - individual adults were required to take the training necessary to equip them to be service providers to the community, giving a portion of their time in the process.

In the coming decades most communities in America are going to be forced to learn the difference between "costs" and  "value" of a given service.  Their own valuation of a given service is going to require them to bear the costs of providing it - often upon their own backs - in the way of giving of their own time and talents in support of their community goals.
