- The Headline & Link: When Political Fervor Turns Deadly
- The Subtitle: As the nation deals with the impact of the tragic mass shooting in Arizona, a profile of the suspect emerges.
- Victims: 6 People Murdered out of 17 people shot including a US Rep and a Federal Judge
- Crime Scene: The State Of Arizona (City not important)
- The Subtext: (Potentially) The contentious battle over Illegal Immigration Into This Nation From Mexico
- The Low Hanging Fruit For The Indictment: The over the top hatred toward illegal immigrants from Mexico and Central America has prompted this unhinged individual to act violently
- Potential Points Of Exploitation:
- Homeland Security Warned About How The Angry Political Climate Would Rile Up Right Wing Groups. The Republicans Need To Roll Back On Their Hateful Rhetoric
- All the while you were profiling Hispanics this White boy turned out to be the real threat
- All Terrorists are not of the Islamic Faith. Indict the people and religion of Jared Lougher just the same as you do when you express Islamophobia
The Headline & Link: Six People Shot Near Baltimore Night Club, 2 Dead
- The Subtitle: Repeat Offender Charged In Shootings In Baltimore
- Victims: 6 People Shot, 2 Of Them Police Officers, One Officer Dies
- Crime Scene: The City Of Baltimore (Though It Could Have Happened In Any Large Metro Area With Their Fair Share Of Street Pirates)
- The Subtext: The Street Pirate Slashings are commonplace and are no longer worthy of national press coverage
- The Low Hanging Fruit For The Indictment: There is a problem with violence and murders in key urban areas of the nation
- Potential Points Of Exploitation:
- This proves once again that capitalism causes violence
- When a group of people are oppressed by a system they strike out violently. The system needs to be changed so that the violence will decrease
- Black people are a violent people. This is why we don't go to places like this
The truth is - the murderous actions of Jared Lougher is going to suck up all of the attention surrounding the awareness of violence in the nation. Simply put there is far more "meat" to work with in the shootings in Arizona for certain operatives to work with than they care to apply toward the killings in Baltimore. Despite the fact that every day in 2011 in metro-Atlanta there has been one over the top murder after another - it appears that none of these murder victims are equal in stature to Rep Giffords. Despite the fact that we are far more likely to see a large body count next week motivated by the same M.O. is seen in Baltimore - these "deaths by one thousand cuts" won't ever rank as high as the one mass shooting in Arizona.
What Is The Model Of The Rule?
I am willing to be the biggest proponent of the adoption of the rule that says "Use public pressure to tamp down on hateful and violent rhetoric because it stokes the violent actions that we now witness".
You see while others would use this standard to go after their particular point of interest - in the case of Arizona causing people to yield from public opposition to increased enforcement against illegal immigration I too would hijack the cause to apply it to what I see is far more deadly and injurious to the Black community: Mitigation of the culture of "Street Piracy".
If words trigger actions
If those who hear these words and don't act against them are complicit
If the government and leaders in a community don't band together to stand against such behavior are not doing their jobs.........................
From my perspective the face that is rendered when these indictments are read off is that of a Street Pirate. It is clear that the mindset that is allowed to exist is replicated through a network of people who carry out such offenses.
IF there was ever a time to exploit a bad situation as part of an agenda - the worthy cause is to defend our community by forcing those who manage these human resources to remain focused upon the individuals who they now neglect as they run around going after indictments that prove to be more interesting to them.
