Rep Jesse Jackson Jr Will Collect Resumes To Document Pain Of Employment Situation. Not To Hurt The Administration But To Draw It Toward The Left

Rep Jesse Jackson Calls For Job Seekers To Send Him Their Resumes

I have empathy for the situation that Rep Jesse Jackson is currently confounded with.

As a:
  • Black
  • Democrat
  • Representing Chicago, Illinois
  • Operating in the 3rd Year Of The Obama Presidency

He is effectively neutralized in waging a all out attack on "those who are in power" for their failure to address the needs of the people.  He is thoroughly ensconced in "the system" that he would have to attack if he were to  take such a course.

In as much as Jesse Jackson Jr's "fingerprints are on the steering wheel" of the system that has produced the results that are seen in large sections of Chicago - he is left to do this symbolic effort to show these masses that he cares.

I am personally surprised that he did not offer them a "self addressed stamped envelop" to support their effort.

This type of pivot toward populism allows elected officials that are in Jackson's predicament to retain their jobs year after year.  They position themselves as "voice of the people".  They go to Washington to "speak on behalf of the voiceless".   Rarely are they ever appraised as the purveyors of a system of assumptions, this system itself being put on trial for its efficacy.

If an opposition President was in power I suspect that Rep Jackson would be wailing such claims against his policies and lack of attention upon the "voiceless".  Just as Senator Mitch McConnell publicly announced his intention to make President Obama a "one term president" - Jackson and others seek to do everything in their power to extend it to two AND to take back the US House for their party and extend their domination of the US Senate.  Its just that simple.

While it is clear that few Blacks will vote for Senator McConnell for such an "offense" Rep Jackson's (and others) actions are seen as advancing the interests of the community.

As long as our community's interests are channeled as a function of the political operations far, far away from the borders of the area in question an abstraction between that is popularly agreed upon and what transpires on the ground is maintained.

There presently exists no transparent framework by which these political operations are kept separate and dispassionately scrutinized for its efficacy with the threat of a new direction followed.

Rep Jackson's resume collection operation is little different than the chaos we saw in East Point Georgia in which 30,000 submitted paper work for a few hundred slots on a waiting list.
As with the officials in East Point - he is not going to be called on his actions.
