Kanye West Had Better Be Lucky That He Is Not A Corporate CEO Or Health Care Executive

Kanye West Purchases $180,000 Diamond Crusted Watch

Let me be clear:

His PRIVATE PROPERTY (the money)
His RIGHT to do with it as he pleases.

This post AIN'T about Kanye West though.
I want to focus on those of you who worked and then paid your $75 per ticket to see him in concert

$180,000 watch
If we assume a 40% tax rate on all proceeds taken in by Mr West from a concert gig he would need to generate $252,000 in one night to have YOU pay for HIS watch.

$252,000 divided by $75 per ticket equals  3,360 concert attendees in the house who paid for his diamond-self portrait watch.

Again - YOUR private property.  YOU get to spend it as you please.

I would be remiss, however, if I did not play the recordings of your words that are directed at other "monied people" as they don't seem to be applied to Mr West.

  • How many times more does Kanye West make more than his lowest paid employee?  Lets say the stage hand who sets up the platform upon which he makes money?  Is it 400 times more?  4,000?   Who knows.  There is no activist group, seemingly, that cares to look.
  • If the "Health Care Executive" is getting paid $10M per year and thus is drawing valuable financial resources that SHOULD BE used for providing health care out of the firm and into her wallet....................what do you say about Kanye West's frivolous use of DISCRETIONARY SPENDING, done by the people who are aggrieved about health care? Indeed money spent in insurance each month from your paycheck is so critical that the government or your employer takes it out of the paycheck before you get your hands on it.  Shouldn't a CONSCIOUS people be more focused on the "money that got through to the people's hands" and WHAT THEY DO WITH IT?
  • There is no surprise to see your "greedy enemies" who stand against you extract money from you and then burn the dollar bills in front of your eyes to taunt you.   What do you say about your FRIENDS?
    • More importantly - seeing Luxury Watches and Lamborghinis and high fashion cothing stored in an upscale rented apartment, the entire floor space used for nothing more than clothes storage - WHY DO YOU KEEP GIVING YOUR MONEY VOLUNTARILY?
Sadly our community is "living vicariously through these individuals".
We show apparent pride as we seek "one of us" with major fortune, invited into formerly exclusive venues.  Today our silence is purchased in that even though they are doing the same things that the targets of our angst are doing - at least "ONE OF US" is doing it.

While indeed these "rich" are paying progressive taxes just as the corporate type people who are targeted are paying - the entertainment class don't suffer the taxation of scorn that is heaped upon these others.

They are paid to stimulate our emotions via their music, their acting, their sports activities.
This emotional connection has purchased silent complicity - more expensive than the $180K watch.
