When we take a step back from the transactional arguments made by those who are "Government Confiscators" I am prone to believe that they would be agreeable to the notion that the main flaw with chattel slavery from our nation's past is that:
- It had PRIVATE ownership of human beings
- It lacked a "workers rights" infrastructure
- The "Slaves" were not offered a nominal process called "voting" in which their voices could be registered prior to being ignored by those in central power who "knew better than they" and thus engineered the social outcome that was best for them
When you consider the viewpoints of certain people it becomes clear that they don't have a strong commitment to "rights" and private property. They only have a problem with the notion that private individuals/ corporations have the balance of power in both of these areas.
On "The Root.com" some people are suggesting that the federal government (re)institute a top marginal tax rate of 70% or more. I can imagine that the words "no body needs that much money to live, especially as we have people hungry in America" as their main justification. In addition while "turning back the clock" will get you labeled as a racist when it comes to our cultural and social order - it appears that a turn back to the tax policies from "back in the day" will get you labeled as a modern folk hero.
The two points that are missing from this harkeing back are:
- Despite these high confiscatory rate of taxation there was still massive poverty and economic inequality in America
- They say NOTHING about the "competency development" of "the Least Of These" who will receive their flow of mother's milk from their filthy rich person's mammary glands using the government's "breast pump" to initiate the flow.
Did I say that ALL taxes are theft and graft? NO.
The spirit and justification for such taking beyond a certain amount certainly is.
The Serfdom that is created as these type of plans wills surely create two types of people:
- Those who profit greatly from their mere presence in the system but fail to realize that if they find themselves outside of the plastic bubble they have not trained themselves how to survive the experience
- Those who have been forced to learn their lesson that with a 100% effort they are only allowed to keep 30% of their proceeds - the marginal benefit for one more hour worked is not worth it
Why not just implement government based slavery ownership and commandeer the masses of untapped labor? With the "workers rights" framework and ownership exploitation issue settled - what is the problem?
(Note for anyone who feigns offense over my cavalier use of "Slavery" without due respect to my ancestors - I would like to inform you that I talked to my ancestors last night and they are more disappointed that so many still THINK like SLAVES today despite the admonition by the great emancipator Harriet Tubman
