The audio above is from the NPR show "Tell Me More". Today they discuss the dismissal of Juan Williams from his post at NPR. Here is my assessment of the individuals in the conversation
- Jimi Izrael - Don't typically agree with you but today I give you credit. Though I am sure that you are not a fan of Juan Williams you appropriately played the "race angle", asking "What about DIVERSITY at NPR?". It was even noted that this man who is being called an "Uncle Tom" by the Black Progressive bigots, Mr Williams used his position to demand more representation of NON-WHITE VOICES throughout NPR. You get an award this week Mr Izrael
- David Zirin - Once again he proves to be a left-wing hit man. The same people who were upset about the snippet of video used against Shirley Sherrod prove with this issue that using clips instead of the full context is standard fare.
- I have watched and listened to Mr Zirin on several occasions. Even in his recent C-SPAN book review of the book that he just pinned he could not get away from his own Progressive-Fundamentalism. He had an opinion on who the next owner of the Texas Rangers should be based primarily on the ideological leanings of the two front runners for the bid.
- If you forced Mr Zirin to give a character assessment of what goes on at MSNBC in contract to Fox News he will no doubt exhibit my observations about how progressives see conservatism as "organic evil and hatred" and thus when progressives have to battle them they must at times use certain unsavory actions in kind. Thus the progressive is doing so as a function of what the conservatives do. Still their ENDS are just.
- Mr Zirin fraudulently linked Williams' dismissal from NPR with his "$2M payday" with Fox News. I was disappointed that no one sought to untangle this fraudulent claim. More to the point the little birdie called "George Soros" was flying around in the room. Of course Mr Zirin would not dare make the connection between $1.8M paid to NPR by the billionaire and the purge of Juan Williams who appears on Fox and the pressure that is being put upon Nina Totenberg who appears only on Fox News Sunday.
- I still am forced to question how Mr Zirin was recruited to appear on "Tell Me More" in the first place. His presence out of the blue without any natural connection to the show causes me to question the agenda of the show's producers. Maybe they met him at "Busboys and Poets"?
- Arsalan Iftikhar - Put his finger in the air. Saw that the story was about a "Friend Of Fox" and a person that makes a Progressive's skin chafe and he tailored his comments accordingly. Whereas Iftikhar has problems with someone says "I am not a bigot" he can't see his own bias with regard to his focus upon that segment while leaving all of the exculpatory evidence laying on the ground for someone else who is more of an honest broker to pick up and bring forth to the argument. There is no question what so ever that if the person in question was more favorable to Iftikhar and the subject was about an early teen who saw a US Army officer walk into a bank and caused this little girl to cry Mr Iftikhar would attribute the "Illegal War In Iraq" to the reason why this little girl was made to cry. He would demand that America work doggedly to repair its image around the world so that when this little girl became a correspondent for Huffington Post in 20 years she would not have to talk about having FEAR whenever she sees an American military uniform based on the previous "War crimes" that this organization has conducted (whenever Republicans were Commander in Chief)
- Michelle Martin - I have a net favorable view of Michelle Martin in general. Though she is on the left she never allows her professional journalism skills to be compromised. I got the sense that she did not agree with the dismissal of Mr Williams but she is no fan of Fox News. She was not going to open up a protest march in front of NPR to save Juan Williams' job though.
- Reihan Salam - All praises to Mr Salam. He had to defend against Mr Iftikhar and Mr Zirin and did a masterful job in moving the conversation away from their coyly crafted narrow focus on the sound bite and instead expanded it into its proper context. Beyond that he argued that these are the exact type of conversations that we should be having. This game of ideological "gotcha" instead has a suppressive consequence on freedom of expression in an attempt to find a resolution. Why did it take, with all due respect - a non-Black man to show that the same hit job of selective sound biting was at play with Juan Williams?
The answer to this last question is clear.
In the game of Diversity it is not a matter of "We want a {fill in the blank with an under-represented group}.
The more accurate statement about the Diversity scheme is that "We want a PROGRESSIVE who is a {fill in the blank with an under-represented group}."
The untold story in all of this is the overwhelming GLEE that has been exhibited by the "Progressive Black Blogger Understudies" who were happy that one of their favorite whipping boys - Juan Williams was kicked in the tail by NPR.
The truth is that they don't mind Black people appearing on Fox News - as long as that Black man is "Fighting Whitey" on Fox News, retaining the dutiful defensive posture against Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck - you know - the people who get more press from the "Lampblack Yellow Journalist Press" than do the people who have the actual power and presence within our community to do us the most harm.
I keep pointing out how their favorite channel, MSNBC shows its complementary racialism by not talking about the key problems WITHIN Black American unless it is done in the context of an indictment against the greater nation. There is no "Black Street Pirate Gang" who can generate enough corpses to have Rachel Maddow, Keith Olbermann, Ed Schultz, Lawrence O'Donnell and Chris Matthews spend any significant time on their shows inspecting for any ORGANIC, internal sources for these elements of dysfunction within the Black community.
The balance of the Black community would much prefer to talk about the external battle with the right-wing. If any of these shows did go on a crusade to bring awareness to Street Pirate attacks within the Black community upon "equal Americans" they would suffer a rebuke from Black progressives with the claims that MSNBC is painting Black people as criminals.
It is quite ironic how Juan Williams is claimed to be cavorting with the enemy. The truth is that the Black Press is the one who is running the far more fateful protection racket against those who are doing the most harm to our communities. In their collective spirit of vengeance the key operatives that are embedded within the political activism of the Black community work doggedly to keep the rank & file focused on their EXTERNAL IDEOLOGICAL ADVERSARIES rather than those who they have put into power and yet have us retaining our disproportionate status as "the Least Of These".
