Oracle Corp. said former Hewlett- Packard Co. Chief Executive Officer Mark Hurd has joined Oracle as president and been named to its board of directors. Hurd will report to Oracle CEO Larry Ellison.
The company also said Charles Phillips resigned as president and member of the board of directors. Ellison said in a statement that Phillips approached him in December and “expressed his desire to transition out of the company,” adding that he asked Phillips to stay on through the integration of Sun Microsystems.
Hurd ran Hewlett-Packard, the world’s biggest maker of personal computers and printers, for more than five years. Last month Hurd resigned from Hewlett-Packard following allegations of sexual harassment by a former marketing contractor. Ellison criticized the company’s board for letting Hurd go.
“Take Back The Black Community Consciousness". It has been hijacked by embedded operatives who don't intend to develop the COMPETENCIES within. We once controlled this consciousness, focusing our activism directly upon our permanent interests. Today the "Malcolm X Political Football Game" has us as starters and some believe that this playing time translates into absolute progress for our people. My goal is to hold our permanent interests in their faces, forcing them to explain their actions.
