I am going to prove to you that I am beyond "Tit for Tat" and "Gotcha" politics.
The way I am going to do this is by providing analysis as to why there is was an outrage over Dr Laura and silence over Bill Maher.
Dr Laura Was Making An Indictment Against Black People
When Dr Laura asked the Black caller "Why is it that all you hear is 'Nigger, Nigger, Nigger' on HBO from Black Comedians" - indeed she expanded the scope of the conversation beyond the context that the caller had initiated. I noticed that the media analysts were not going to allow Dr Laura to initiate an inspection of the hypocrisy and double standards regarding the commercial use of the word "Nigger". Instead they chose to focus upon her gratuitous use of the word and her choice to include the Black caller in on the indictment.
I ultimately agree that Dr Laura expressed what was on her mind before the caller even called in and was wrong in how she treated this woman. However there no question that today the most frequent vector by which the word "Nigger" is introduced into common us today is from the Black entertainers and "Hip Hop Voice Of The Street Pirates" who aren't bound to any regulation to a particular standard.
Bill Maher Was Making An Indictment Of White People
When it comes to the video clip above we are seeing the direct inverse of what happened to Dr Laura. Those who make use of "racial outrage" as a political weapon are inclined to look past Bill Maher's use of the word "Nigger" on a commercial show like "Larry King Live" and accept it as a necessary gateway to the more enticing indictment that he later rendered upon The Tea Party, Sarah Palin and the rest of the right-wing enemies of "Progressives" - of which the "Black Progressive" is a subset.
It is interesting that Bill Maher is able to assemble his version of the facts around the motivations of Sarah Palin and conclude that she wants to "have a war with Muslims" as part of her religious dogma - YET the news media just got through condemning D'Sousa for assembling his version of the facts about President Obama to conclude that he has a "Kenyan World View".
More ironically is that President Obama in EXPANDING THE WAR IN AFGHANISTAN, has engaged the US Military War Machine to "KILL MORE MUSLIMS" than the total number of Muslims that Sarah Palin has ever killed.
The Bill Maher Show - "Keeping Conservatives On Trial" From Start To Finish
I have to admit my naiveté regarding my assumptions about how the period by which Democrats control the Executive Branch and the Legislative Branch AND most local governments where Progressives live would trigger left wing media sources like:
- Crooks & Liars
- The Nation
- MSNBC
- Media Matters/Color Of Change/ MoveOn.org
- AfroSpear
- Various "Progressive who are Black" editorial page writers (Robinson, Herbert, Wickham, Hutchenson
to switch to attacking those who are now in power, after having dispensed with the Republicans.
I was flat wrong.
I do give credit to "Democracy Now" and surprisingly cartoonist Ted Rall for remaining consistent REGARDLESS of who is in power.
When their favored power took over - they switched from ATTACKING the government to DEFENDING the government. In the process they began to suffer from "acquired blindness" as their "Anti-War Marches", concern over the deficit spending and loss of "Civil Rights" got silent.
I noted the progressive tactic of "Keeping your adversary on trial". Whereas a show like MSNBC's "Ed Schultz Show" is in this mode from start to finish - "Real Time With Bill Maher" takes it to a new level.
Michael Moore said of the November 2010 elections that "we can't allow the country to go back to where we were two years ago". What Maher failed to mention to Moore is that:
- 2010 are CONGRESSIONAL elections
- In 2008 the Democrats had control over both houses of Congress
How then can the 2010 elections be a fight against "going back to the state of affairs of 2 years ago" when the ONLY thing different between then and now is the occupant of the White House?
Do you Progressive-Fundamentalists see that when you don't get outside of your domain of comfort you are not likely to hear your ideology being challenged?

I hear ya man!
I was wondering if anyone would point out the hypocrisy here. I could careless about Dr. Laura saying the "N" word her problem was certainly not racism, it was in this case lacking "The Fruit of the Spirit". Nikki
With how weaved through out main stream society the "N" word has become, I have to often ask myself how can it still be so taboo for people of non-African decent to use it? How can it be just for a single race to claim a word for their wn use, just because of how it was used for their ancestors?
I will admit, I am a white male of Irish/German decent and I have used the word myself. Has it ever been in a hateful way? Not directly or even indirectly towards a person or specific group of people. So why is it that I would be fearful to use this word when not in the company of people whom I know will not become offended because it's known to them that it's not used in a racial context.
To me, being in fear over using a word in public, because I will be accused of being a racist is, in and of itself a form of oppression. The word itself is not illegal to use, however there still can be massive consequences for it's use if you are not of African decent.
I apologize for how offensive this will sound, but I feel it must.
Hypocrisy.
I know a bunch of angry, lazy white folk used it in an evil way. This doesn't make me any Ofay-Honky Cracker... Why? A few simple reasons.
Ofay, from all research I have done, was made up out of thin air. Doesn't have any other meaning, except to be racist. Honky... Well. I can honk, but I don't. Otherwise... Exact same as Ofay. Cracker. I'm white, I got some holes in me, but you can't eat me and I'm mostly water, just like the rest of you.
So none of these words mean anything, at all.
The "N" word though, had an original meaning. Before it was destroy by those stupid American's who were just too lazy to do anything themselves (Oh look... Most still are.) It meant an ignorant person. What does ignorant mean? Well, contrary to popular belief and use, it is not a euphemism for rude. It means a person lacking in knowledge of something.
So, in closing, I have to wonder when everyone will cease being so damn ignorant of the oppression the use of this word causes.
Bill Maher was NOT saying the n-word in a racist term if you dumb fuck uncle tom sell outs actually watched the clip. Bill Maher is not a racist, Sarah Palin is. Learn the facts.
EXCUSE YOU!!!!
Clearly you have a reading comprehension problem.
1) Dr Laura WAS NOT calling the Black female caller a "Nigger". The FACT that she dared USE the word (instead of saying "N-word") provided enough of an indictment for the racism chaser to attack her.
THE PURPOSE of my post was to show their rank hypocrisy.
2) "Uncle Tom"? I would have been more impressed by you if you called me a "Nigger".
3) You say that Sarah Palin is a "racist". I have learned the frivolity of trying to get "People Like YOU" to PROVE your position. Instead I choose to allow you to marinate in your own ideologically based hatred AND instead document the legacy of RACISTS against Blacks.
* They murdered us to keep us in our place
* Denied us access to quality education
* Destroyed our local businesses
* Harmed our health.
Can you document which of these Palin is guilty of?
Instead Palin - like Reagan should be celebrated for their impact within the Black community. They provide the force of IDEOLOGICAL UNITY - which benefits the embedded confidence men in obtaining what they want out of Black people - OUR EQUAL BALLOTS.
