14 year old Christopher Travis was shot in the head on the "street pirate plagued" streets of Chicago.
This takes place as the political operatives salivate over the possibilities of who will occupy the seat of the mayor in the city. While they sell the Black community on who will have their portraits mounted in City Hall......there has been irresponsibly little mentioned about the terror and violence that soaks the streets of some of the very communities that will have the most campaign signs per capita.
Though the state of Mississippi - where many of the Blacks in Chicago have their family legacies based in still suffers from the negative stereotypes of its Jim Crow past - the truth is that more Black people each year are murdered in the City of Chicago than in the entire state of Mississippi. Chicago today and a few other cities more closely resemble the reign of terror that was in our past as Black people than does the modern day South.
