How many of you have sat in a church and hear a preacher give a prayer that was laced with messages that gave strong hints of his own opinion but which had little to do with what "Jesus" said? While everyone had their eyes closed, the preacher had on eye open in the pulpit, reading from the prepared words that cajoled the factions into yielding to him and thus allowing "Jesus" to take control over the situation.
I am sorry folk. I have been watching the antics of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference specifically and the entire "Civil Rights Pharisees" broadly and I have concluded that of the 4 elements of its name none of them ring true any longer.
- Southern? - Nope - they have offices all around the nation and told of plans to open offices around the world.
- Christian? - If what they have exhibited over the past year is "Christian" then I would hate to see what they'd be like if they were possessed by the devil. Or maybe they were acting like "Onward Christian Soldiers"?
- Leadership? - Not much of that has been shown either. When you see the two factions of "fighting temptations" both proclaiming that they are upholding the principles of their founder "Dr Martin Luther King Jr" and in some cases - noting how they used to "march with King" - you know that you have a problem
- Conference? -Factions yes, Conference? I am not sure. The two factions held separate conferences/ national meetings - one in Atlanta and the other in Alabama at the same time
The purpose of my exposure of the antics of these groups is not to gratuitously attack them. Not at all.
Instead I am making my observations be known to all who care to listen.
The grand dysfunction that is being seen is a result of years of being lost, their central purpose having been taken away from them by time, circumstance and the enforcement of THE LAW in our nation. These groups who are "Pharisee-like" in their antics kept the very same defensive pose against EXTERNAL spirits that had long attacked Black people but failed to see that this spirit could also infect INTERNAL souls as well.
The SCLC and other groups today find themselves in an uncomfortable position. The UNIFYING force of an external adversary allowed them to gloss over the needed development for a more sound structure of internal management of their organization (and the management of the Black community's internal discourse as well). Now that they need this skill set to get past their present loggerheads this void is in full view for all others to see.
The pattern is clear. The SCLC needs the assistance of the Fulton County Justice System to assist them in "conflict resolution". South of their offices in downtown Atlanta - the all Democratic Clayton County Board tapped the Republican governor to address a conflict between the county tax commissioner and the board. Prior to this the governor was called in on a massive conflict on the Clayton County School Board.
The focus, thus, has been upon filling seats in these institutions with "favorable people". Little thought has been given to actual MANAGEMENT and the "operationalizing" of certain practices by which that which we set out in the political activism space. The operatives with power are not going to order themselves as such. Only the Black rank & file, upon seeing this squandered potential, can impose an overlay management structure by which any and all who take these seats must produce or their person and their associated theories get tossed.
Now I did say that Black people must "stop voting our race" and instead must "manage our communities". I remain consistent as I say that since it is true that Black people largely want the very same things in the way of standard of living as anyone else in this nation wants - the enforcement that I speak of above is not in accordance with some "real Black" policy positions that the purveyor of the list always seems to qualify himself for compliance. Instead these principles are in line with the measurable attainment of our community's permanent interests having been confined toward the local and organic constraints that force the people to obtain the higher standard of living via their own efforts.
I question the "leadership" that the SCLC has provided in addressing the critical problems in our community. I have noted several times that in walking distance from their headquarters is a "killing field" for Black people that is suffering from benign neglect.
I suspect that there has been an abundant amount of prayer conducted by every single member of the fighting factions within the SCLC.
I think that instead of praying for Jesus to come down and provide them with direction they need to pray that Jesus provides them with some"human resource management" training, thus allowing them to direct the abundant amount of underutilized human resources in the large radius around their headquarters into action for the betterment of the community within.
Some of the mal-actors in this entire episode need to be removed from the organization. PERIOD.
