Black Agenda Report: Hating Capitalism While Scheming On Its Proceeds

The basis of my analysis and rebuttal is a story that appeared in the progressive-fundamentalist web site Black Agenda Report entitled: You Can't Stop the Violence in Ghetto Streets Without Stopping the Violence in Iraq, Afghanistan and Elsewhere

When I report on how the tendencies of certain individuals who purport to speak on behalf of the Black community make use of redirection and indictments I point the nullifying effects of such a view point.   There are few articles that I have read that better illustrate this point than this one penned by Bruce A Dixon, managing editor of BAR.

I am convinced that the main purpose of these type of articles is to get Black people to look past the local resources/issues that we should be MANAGING and instead engage in a permanent chase/struggle.   The benefit of this is that no one gets their toes stepped on as they UNITE against this external adversary who has caused them so much pain.  To Mr Dixon it appears that it is far more important for the Black community to be conscious of "who did this to us" than it is for us to "take back" our communities.   We know the connotation that "take back" has, right?

The macro themes of Bruce Dixon's article are:

  1. Martin Luther King Jr told us that we must fight for:
    1. Racial Justice
    2. Economic Justice
    3. Opposition to Militarism, Empire and War
  2. The American system is responsible for Black people having
    1. Broken Lives
    2. Broken Spirits
    3. Broken Families
  3. Funding for our schools, housing and jobs have been pilfered into the military and corporations
  4. The "New Negro" Black Politicians are more corporate savvy than they are connected to the interests of the people - despite them all being Democrats
  5. In order for Black people to receive our healing we must fight these forces and have these valuable resources directed into our communities.
When I say that there is no prevailing "Black Agenda" but instead there is a "PROGRESSIVE agenda with the INTENTION of being directed at Black folks" thus we have a "chocolate covering over a leftist core" thus being called a "Black Agenda Report"  look no further than this article.

Focusing On Capitalist Debt Money For The Repair Of Black People

For the years that I have been reading/monitoring "The Black Commentator" and then its off-shoot "Black Agenda Report" the fundamental point that I find ironic with their theories is that they effectively depend upon the "golden eggs" from the beast that they wish to slay in order to fund their grand scheme to repair the Black man and woman.

Let's start our debate with a zero balance.   It is indeed true that the war spending and the bank/corporate bailouts of CitiBank and GM came from debt spending.  For this federal budget and the last the government is expected to have two straight years of deficit spending that exceeds $1,300 billion dollars.    There is more.
This deficit spending should also be assigned to the "good spending" that the BAR is likely to approve of.  When the:
  • Federal Unemployment Payments are extended
  • States are given money so they don't have to lay off teachers
  • Stimulus money is sent to fund transportation projects and thus create jobs
THIS TOO IS "DEBT MONEY".

Even beyond the question of "good spending" versus "bad spending" in the view of the progressive-fundamentalists at BAR is the key point that they are missing about it all:

If it wasn't for the credit card that the capitalistic system is afforded per the financial markets that BAR would prefer to destroy - there would be no access to debt capital for any spending beyond what our income and productivity affords us.

Thus I have concluded that Black Commentator and BAR can't possibly be seeking to do what their rhetoric indicates about their intentions.  If they actually did slay the capitalist beast they would be slashing their own throats in the process.

They seek power to CONTROL the spending that is done under our market capitalistic system.  I would even say that they know that they are ultimately powerless but instead seek to raise enough of a ruckus so that  more funds can be streamed toward the sources that they prefer.  This and the UNITY agenda that I spoke about previously.

The Art Of Redirection

One of the most amazing phrases used by Bruce Dixon in his article is the claim:
spreading bogus notions about an “epidemic of ghetto violence” being at the root of our problem, and blaming victims
When I hear such rationale I am made to wonder about what Mr Dixon would be thinking during the time of the Civil Rights Movement in which Black people where killed as such?  Would Mr Dixion dare shift the blame from the White racist killer over to a larger societal indictment as a provision of cover?  Or would he indict BOTH, as I suspect?

As we exit yet another "Bloody Summer" and the news that 4 Black people were murdered in a Buffalo New York restaurant I wonder how far does Mr Dixon's protectionism extend into delusion?  This is why the grand redirection is so important.  It is critical to make the case that American with its racist misappropriations is the reason for this murder and mayhem........that doesn't exist.

By having conscious Black Americans to focus on stopping the war in Afghanistan and Iraq and the other places listed, Mr Dixon doesn't really think that any Black people inside the ghetto streets of America will be saved.  Instead he realizing that the indictment for the killer will not be rendered.   Instead the grand equivocation that will be heard will be "How can you say that the Black community is filled with violence when it is the government of the United States that is raining violence in other parts of the world?".  The music to Mr Dixon's ear is the sound of a Black person who came to him, concerned about the frequent violence in the Black community but then upon hearing his reprocessing of the facts is seen thinking in silence and then is heard saying "YEAH, you are right!!!!  Those bastards!!!".

Where Is The Organic Competency Development?

Bigger than the use of capitalist funding to repair the Black community as suggested by anti-capitalists is the observation of their propensity to punt the obligation to directly manage the human resources within the Black community over to the greater government in the name of economic/social justice.   The pursuit of being made whole is more important than is the proper ordering of the people who will benefit the most from the change.

Ultimately the greatest irony of the thinking as expressed by BAR is that they seek to purify the actions of "the beast" who's belly they reside within so that it will become their protector rather than their oppressor.

The operatives within BAR are what I call "unattached Black progressives".   They, unlike the Congressional Black Caucus, are not attached to the Democratic Party Machine.   To be clear, however, when they do attack the CBC and Obama for failing to do anything considerable for the Black community they are only attacking them from the LEFT, with the hopes that they will go more HARD LEFT.

I see no evidence that the "unattached Black progressives" have the will to identify the Permanent Interests of the Black community and to plot a course to their attainment without regard to a particular ideological pathway - left, right or center.    Instead their ideology leads the way and the Black community's condition merely makes for an opportunity to field a permanent struggle.

When I see the "unattached Black progressives" not only criticize the Black Elected Establishment Machine for the continuing condition of the Black community but also go against them in seeking to get them out of office - then I will believe that they are serious about the damage done to the Black community and their will to mitigate it.
