Alveda King - Your Uncle Would Not Be Attending Glenn Beck's Rally. He Would Be At The SCLC Stopping Them From Misuisng His Name

Daily Caller: Alveda King speaks on whether her uncle Martin Luther King Jr. would stand with Glenn Beck or NAACP on Aug. 28

Alveda King, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s niece and one of Glenn Beck’s Restoring Honor rally’s keynote speakers, said if her uncle were alive today, he’d choose to attend the Aug. 28 rally that “demonstrates the spirit of love and unity and peace.”

The “which rally would Martin Luther King, Jr., attend” debate entered the discussion of Beck’s Restoring Honor rally versus the “Reclaim the Dream” rally the Rev. Al Sharpton and his National Action Network (NAN) are putting after NAACP President Ben Jealous said if Martin Luther King, Jr., was still alive today, he’d be attending the NAN rally on Aug. 28 and not Beck’s.

Alveda King:

There is no need to pretend.   If Dr Martin Luther King Jr were alive today he would not be standing with Glenn Beck on August 28, going against the sentiments of the NAACP and other "Civil Rights Pharisees".   In as much as the modern civil rights movement has been turned into a pure ideological and partisan venture - thus proving that all of the 'low hanging fruit' challenge Black America is gone - there is little likelihood that King would have been able to have them retain their dignity.

In as much as Rev Al Sharpton and other operatives in the Black Press are claiming that Glenn Beck is desecrating the memory of "The March on Washington For Jobs and Justice", the truth is that King's legacy is molested nearly each and every day on the streets of the Black community. 

Today we suffer from too many Black pastors who keep their sanctuary doors closed so as not to allow the air conditioning to escape, this as the community around them festers with dysfunction.   In the case of the question of the re-enactment of the "March On Washington For Jobs And Justice" those who are pissed that Glenn Beck filed his paperwork with the US Park Service than did the "keepers of the flame" - the Black community would be better served if this symbolic national gathering was split up and rechristened as a local community consciousness movement.

I would be willing to donate a Lincoln penny to each one of the speakers to place at their feet while they are talking so that they too can speak at the foot of the Lincoln Memorial, thus allowing their ritual to continue.

With the biggest deliverable coming from the recent NAACP convention at a time of great economic, academic and public safety challenges in our community being them calling out the RACISM in the Tea Party - it is clear that they are not serious about managing the human resources within our community.  The Tea Party is a purely ideological and political threat to the Civil Rights Pharisees and the Democratic Party framework within which they seek to obtain "fish distribution" for the Black community.  It must be clear that the Tea Party is not slashing the throats of Black people.  They are a threat to the PROGRESSIVISM that the Black Establishment seeks to use as a gateway to the promised land for the Black community.



The Black Progressive Press

If Ms King believes that anything that Glenn Beck says on August 28 is going to get a fair and "benefit of the doubt" coverage in the "Black Progressive Press" she is sadly mistaken.  In as much as several elements of these operatives have reported that the Tea Party and Beck represent a rechristening of the "White Citizens Councils" which terrorized the Black communities in the past - they are going to do their part to insure that their readers that prefer to receive their reports of Glenn Beck from "Media Matters" are not moved by the "tricks" said on stage that day.   We as Black people must remain vigilant against anything that this man says.  He is one of President Barack Obama's most vocal critics, after all.  He can't possibly stand for the Black people's best interests.

Ironically those, like Beck who have no particular obligation to STAND IN THE DIRECT BEST INTERESTS OF BLACK PEOPLE receive more indictment from this source than do the people who actually have control over the institutions that our people receive our civic services.  (Education, police protection, local economic planning, etc).

This dust up with Beck is nothing more than their desire to retain Black ideological unity by focusing upon threats to their ideology while being strangely silent about threats that are festering in our local communities. 

I for one will be watching the antics of both parties on this coming Saturday and making observation of which has more of a commitment to civility and respect for free speech.
