Many of you are not familiar with Atlanta and thus the content that was changed between these two reports would pass over your head.
In the story of the Parole Agent that was beaten nearly to death by a man who turned out to be Black the removal of one key point from the 5pm run of the story to the 6pm replay speaks volumes.
The "Eagle Bar" reference was removed in the second story. The "Eagle Bar" is a popular gay bar in Atlanta. A few years ago the Atlanta police raided the Eagle Bar because they found several violations of city code - the bar was not licensed for nude dancing, instances of prostitution, etc.
The fact that the assailant and the victim "hooked up" at the Eagle Bar provides evidence that there was a gay tryst involved in the altercation.
Why did WSB choose to drop this factoid between the two runs? In addition the local Fox affiliate did not mention the Eagle Bar either.
The question must be asked - If one gay man savagely attacks another can there be a "Hate Crime" that is rendered?
Of course since the hate crime statutes are highly political anyway - the recent Street Pirate attacks upon a gay couple by under aged street pirates have been muffled both by the Atlanta Gay community who would otherwise be on edge and the civil rights establishment who would also be pushing for hate crimes prosecution.
