When Ballot Petition Blocking Is Racist

It is clear that the two main parties in this nation work to keep 3rd parties off of the ballot. The liberal Jay Bookman points out how the Democratic machine worked to keep Independent Mary Norwood from challenging John Eaves for the Fulton County Chairman seat. Eaves filed a lawsuit against Norwood stating that her petition was illegal because she preprinted the word "Fulton" in the space where the "county" of the signer must be indicated. The judge left it up to the Fulton County Board of Elections to rule on the issue. For informational purposes - Norwood is White and Eaves is Black. Unlike Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell - Eaves was not attacked for seeking to enforce the letter of the law with regards to paperwork.

In the case of the Illinois US Senate race the challenging of ballot petitions was called RACIST by one of the Black candidates that is seeking to run for the office as a Democrat.
