This is not a post of hateration or judgment.
I consider myself a fan of Damon Evans. He was tapped to become the Athletic Director of a large university with a storied football program while still in his 30's. This type of opportunity does not come around often.
His fate with the university rests on two things in my estimation:
- How did the University of Georgia Bulldogs football team do last year?
- How many enemies does he have that wanted him to go even before this incident? This is surely fodder that they can use to make their case.
I would be remiss if I fail to note that I did not have to specify that Courtney Fuhrmann is a "White woman". For many who debate in a deconstructive style they would be pointing out what "Dem White folks ain't gonna allow a Black man with a White woman in his car to survive, especially in the South". They will use this to negate the fact that Evans is a Black man and that the University of Georgia, a university in the South gave him a tremendous opportunity.

So let me get your view straight:
He, the "Black man" choose to drink, choose to drive while drinking and choose to have a "White woman" in the car with him and it all becomes "Dem White folks" fault??? And nowhere in this does he bear ANY responsibility for HIS ACTIONS??? Thank you for clearing this up for me!
Actually I said no such thing.
I like Damon Evans.
Not because he is Black but because he is a positive figure. His appointment has shown other young people at UGA that they too could be appointed to a position of authority.
The man was intoxicated while driving. HE must stand accountable for this indiscretion.
With the video of him warning undergrads against the perils of public drunkeness and drunk driving being played on the news - the question of his ability to lead the athletic operations of the school is being questioned.
I made the point that Evans likely has enemies as does most people with power. This incident is surely enough ammo for his enemies to strike.
If I failed to say that HE BROUGHT THIS ON HIS SELF - I am saying it now.
Thank you for clearing that - I guess your point originally got lost in the "I would be remiss if I fail to note that I did not have to specify that Courtney Fuhrmann is a "White woman"." (of which I see no point.) and "For many who debate in a deconstructive style they would be pointing out what "Dem White folks ain't gonna allow a Black man with a White woman in his car to survive, especially in the South"." and "They will use this to negate the fact that Evans is a Black man...". I got lost in all of the Black and White adjectives of your post.
This is one of the reasons why we, the Blacks, have so many self-made issues. Some of us tend to only see in Black or White - not the fact that a man of station choose to not do as he teaches to our youth and is now having to face up to his responsibility to himself, his wife and his employer. I was just lost in all the color posts.
