N.J. court to assess DUI-test consent
In New Jersey those who are stopped for DUI and refuse a field sobriety test face additional sanction. The law requires that the officer verbally communicate the consequences for the driver's refusal to take the test.
As non-English speaking immigrants flood into our country the assumption that English is the primary mode of communication that everyone engaging in civil contact should be conversant in is falling under the weight of ACLU intervention. While it is true that there have always been mass flows of non-English speaking immigrants into this nation, never before has the ACLU been so entrenched in countering the authorities, placing the burden on them to adopt non-English language modes of communication lest the courts over turn convictions on such technicalities.
I am in support of having all NJ law enforcement officials having written Spanish language form cards to communicate to non-English speakers about their choices that must be made in the field. I suspect, however, that the ACLU would seek to up end this compromise as they point out that illiterate Spanish speaking individuals (who are being exploited in America by corporations) will still suffer as a result of the compromise.
In summary - the ACLU has a perverted sense of accommodation. The hard-left position in which the US establishment is forced to make most of the expected changes make this present unregulated flow of immigrants into this nation more impactful to the American core.
Oh - Don't Think I Didn't Notice About How Despite Rhode Island Having The Same Illegal Immigration Validation Policies As Arizona - They Have Escaped Civil Rights Sanction. For some people - If Media Matters do not cover an issue then it is not true.
