Seattle Policeman Punches Teen Girl In The Face

This was over the line for the police officer.

While the girl should not have attempted to interrupt the policeman's attempt to restrain her friend this police man overreacted with his closed hand punch to her facial area.

I don't believe that she was a threat to him.

The cop had every right to defend himself and acted well within his the boundaries of the law. She had no business interfering with his detaining of the jaywalker even if ot was her friend. When she approached him and started touching the officer, that is assault. When are you people (yes, you people as in you black people) going to quit crying "racism" every time one of you own does something wrong and then gets handled properly by the police. If that was a black cop would you cry "racism"? Quit being the victim people! This girls parents should have taught her to respect the police. I would never attempt something so foolish nor would I allow my kids to do this. Just like the idiot standing there filming and asking the cop "why you hit her man?". He should have been telling the dumb girl to quit resisting and do as hse was told. I have gotten pulled over and received tickets, even a ridiculous jaywalking ticket, but I have always treated the police politely and with respect even if I didn't agree with the citation. You people seriously need to quit whining about everything that happens and stand up for yourselves. Be productive. Stay together as a couple and raise your kids properly. They need a mother AND a father. Teach them right from wrong. Work hard and make something of yourself and quit waiting for the government to give you something.

Anonymous must not be aware that most black people work for a living for don't wait "for the government to give you something". Yet in his/her racism, Anonymous lumps 40 million black people together.

While the teen girls were clearly *way* out of order, the cop used excessive force. His life was not in danger, nor did the girl throw any punches. The cop needs a lot more training if two teen girls are able to practically manhandle him, because subduing them without excessive force should be a no-brainer.

Perhaps you can identify where you saw me claim that RACISM was the driving force behind this?

My view is that a MALE POLICE OFFICER should do a THREAT ASSESSMENT and note that this young female was not scratching his eyeballs out nor reaching for his gun.

He RESPONSE should be commensurate to the level of threat.

An open fist blow to the head (especially toward a female) was an excessive response.

It's high time for black people to put the rebelliousness and antagonism up on the shelf and start acting respectfully and sensibly when dealing with authority. I don't see how the possibility of a jaywalking ticket leads to two young people mouthing off and manhandling a police officer. If you dispute the charges take it up in traffic court.

Why should the officer wait for the situation to escalate? When he punched her, she backed down. He was able to focus on the one girl instead of trying to restrain two and possibly a small mob surrounding him.

Respect civil authority black folks. The nasty, "I don't give a pluck, I'ma do what I want" attitude have black communities and families in shambles. Get a clue and some morals. I'm personally glad he hit her.

Ziggy:

For some strange reason I don't think that you'd be saying this same thing if it was YOUR DAUGHTER that was hit by a COP or a MAN with a closed fist to the face.

Agreed. Black folks need to respect our COMMUNITIES and from this will come respect for the authorities that we appoint to run them.

Agreed. This is a problem that I have been noting.

(Do you notice Ziggy that I don't get DEFENSIVE and tell you what WHITE FOLKS are doing in kind?)

Morals mean nothing. They only lead to judgmentalism.

Instead there is a need to bring consciousness to some DIRECTED OUTCOMES and then have the same people who wish to BENEFIT to also yield themselves to a system of rules that have been vetted and shown to lead them to this end.

I strive to have integrity. If a child of mine acted like that one on the tape, and caught a punch to the face, I hope that I'd have the integrity to not jump bad on the cop. I'm from the "don't start none, won't be none" school. You never know who you're messing with. If she got loud with a taser or trigger happy cop, would have been on her as well. That's all I'll say on that. Otherwise, love the blog.
