Dr Cornel West - Permanent Struggler

You probably do not have the Flash Player (Get Adobe Flash Player Here) installed for your browser or the video files are misplaced on your server!

Take a close listen to this video segment with Dr Cornel West.

I have nothing personal against Dr West. I even appreciate his attempt to be "positive" as he motivates people to do their best. All of this is good.

What boils my blood is that Dr Cornel West along with other "Humanities Professors"/"Public Intellectuals" that I have pointed out over time are "Permanent Strugglers". If you note, for example, West notes that instead of spending money to protect people in Iraq the federal government needs to spend money to protect Black people in the Southside of Chicago.

Upon hearing this statement I shouted out to the television: "Protect the Black people in the Southside of Chicago...................FROM WHOM"?

  • The Klan?
  • The Tea Parties?
  • Racist Police Men?
Cornel West, Rachel Maddow and the Southern Poverty Law Center suffer from the same incidence of jaundice.  They are unable to promote the threat from assailants that come from "history's victims" as being as threatening as are "history's oppressors".

As people favorable to Dr West take control over the institutions in these places under focus Dr West is unable to shift his rhetoric to focus upon the establishment players and how they have failed the community in addition to the neo-assailants that I have mentioned above.

This detachment allows him and other Progressive-Fundamentalist Marxists to KEEP STRUGGLING.  They are on a fight for perpetual justice and never have to stand and account for the land that they now control.

Dr West says that he must pressure Obama.   In truth he is saying that he must push Obama to GO LEFT!!!   I don't disagree that there is a need for such pressure.  My argument is that Dr West is ultimately fatally flawed because his the jet engine on his "left wing" is the only one that works.   Typically such an imbalanced force of propulsion causes a plane to spin around in circles.

96%!!!!!!!!!!

Dr West and Black Establishment Press Operative Ed Gordon emphasize that no other group of people assisted President Obama into office and thus it is "our time" to reap the benefits.    Dr  West replies "96%!!.  96% of us voted for Barack Obama.".

Now keep in mind that when it comes to White folks who had the goal of having "50 White presidents in a row in the United States" were called RACISTS.  They were asked to "put their racial loyalties to the side and vote upon the issues".   I struggle to understand why the very same thing is not asked upon the Black Voter.  As if we can't accept this same mantle.

Dr West and Ed Gordon can't seem to see that the entity known as "Barack Obama" (not just the man but the body of ideas and the people that come along with it) is the MACHINE that is already in control over every single Black community that they can think of.  In fact Gordon as a Black Establishment Press operative and West as an Protester are a part of the very same establishment machine, doing all that they could to insure this national entrenchment.

The key point that Ed Gordon fails to understand is that while indeed Black folks "put him in there" per what the 13% of the population can do so, the majority of Obama's voters were not Black.   Sadly Gordon and West can't think of any PUNITIVE RESPONSE to rain upon Obama and the Progressives if they fail to deliver.  Thus its not just that "you owe us", the fact is that the Black Establishment is desperate without any alternative that they can follow beyond "keep trying harder at the same thing".

West says that he believes in Obama's "Progressive Instincts" yet blames the "people around him" for taking him off message.   What West will never do - as he expresses his duty to "protect Obama" is to connect the dots.  BARACK OBAMA PUT THESE "PEOPLE AROUND HIM".  He could fire Summers, Emanuel, Gates and the Treasury Secretary any time that he wants.  It seems that the Black community is the main loser in this "protectionism" that West and other operatives seek to erect. We have duel roles of  running the protection racket and we are obliged to force Obama to the LEFT - per the instruction of Dr West.    Why doesn't West have us to go back to these places where his ideas have already WON and see the place has turned out?

How many "pink elephants in the room" will they look past in the process?

I don't believe that there will ever be a point at which these two switch from the disposition of "We helped you get into power - we now deserve your attention" over to "We are the machine that is in control over everything about our community and the fact that our communities still suffer is evidence of the need for a new direction".

How many "Inside Traders" call for their own REGULATION?

Their ability to tell about their role in building up the political array and still plead about the gross needs that remain in the community is an example of what I call:   Self-Diagnosis/Self-Prescription/Self-Appraisal Of The Results Of The Treatment.     In as much as there is no THIRD PARTY that is watching these operatives and keeping them in check from expressly pursuing their own self interests we should not be surprised when they come up with conclusions that always point the blame away from them.

Cornell West, Ed Gordon and the array of other operatives perfectly demonstrate my argument that there is a need for a "transparent overlay" that dispassionately focuses upon the "Black Permanent Interests".  Clearly this present arrangement does not insure this.

THE 9P'S IN THE BLACK ESTABLISHMENT

* Politicians
* Protesters (Civil Rights orgs)
* Policy Makers (lobbyist groups)
* Press (the Black Press - full of "progressives")
* Performers (singers, rappers, actors)
* Preachers
* Public School Teachers
* Pro-Union Labor forces
* Posters (Bloggers)

Note: Dr Cornel West as a "Public Intellectual" is causing me to possibly expand my list to become the "10P's In The Post Of The Black Establishment".

Thanks for posting this. I agree with your comments. Dr. West's mention of Chicago was interesting because it sounds like he's arguing for law and order, but of course he would never use those words. I wonder what he would have said (or did say) years ago when inner city violence in Chicago was not in the national spotlight? I'll bet he offered a therapeutic solution of some kind - an end to nihilism or some such thing - and rejected more cops and more incarceration. Now that the problem is clearly out of hand he's supporting law and order. It seems to me that far left liberals pave the way for more reactionary policies than they realize by denying obvious facts of life in the hood. Is Dr. West supporting bringing the National Guard into Chicago? Who knows?

I agree with the fact that 96% of a 13% of population should not expect to much of a ear from the president. I believe all he can do is make things fair and say there you go but nothing can be a true Black agenda.

Also I did not like the parallel being drawn to gang violence in Chicago and wars in Afghanistan like they are one in the same. I thought that was a stretch at best.

I agree with one thing Ed Gordon said and that is there is a civil war amongst Blacks on how to support BrObama and hold him accountable because of his position.

What BrObama truthfully is, is his own man and no one can seem to truly understand his motives. So with that being said he has no loyalties and he is just the President. Trying to find a way to make this man lean one way because of race, class or even public welfare is a mistake period.

Personally I'm just tired of people who claim they are leaders in their own right needing someone to give them something in order to lead. What we truthfully have here are a bunch of Nobles talking to the King and disguising it as looking out for the common folk.
