Listen to this audio report because it really details the gap between the "Black Leadership" and the "Black Rank & File" as it relates to educational services.
If you listen closely you'll note that the key "diversity" initiatives that were won via the court order for desegregation of the Dallas Public schools entailed:
- Magnet Schools which offer special emphasis in certain subjects
- Longer School Days
In this debate people fail note is that today's "charter schools" are provide that which was once seen as a "civil rights victory" per the court order.
When we consider the opposition to charter schools by certain establishment figures one has to ponder who they are being controlled by. It certainly is not the will of the individual parents that seek to provide their children with the best education possible.
It is my view that in 50 years the Black community will look back at the strategy that was cast today and realize the tactical mistakes that were made.
