In response to this some Black people asked "where were you when we were the victims of crime? The suggestion is that Black people were not seen as worthy of increased police protection.
Community Organizers: The response from many African Americans was, "Where were you when we were the victims?"
The response by agitator extraordinaire Rev Al Sharpton provides some insight as to why the police are a bit hesitant to crack down upon the assailants who terrorize the Black community. They know that it is a thankless job. Those who cherry pick will indict the police beforehand for failing to protect the Black community. Those same people will be the primary forces attacking the police for going too far, making the entire Black community suspects.
Al Sharpton: Cops' frisk policy is out of control: It creates a climate of distrust in minority neighborhoods
Al Sharpton
A few weeks back, we witnessed the passage of the most draconian anti-immigration law in Arizona. You may think I'm changing the subject by invoking this - but it's closely related. Allowing police officers to arbitrarily question an individual's immigration status opens the floodgates for racial profiling; it deters cops from focusing on crime prevention. It is the same troubling pattern of behavior that we witness here in New York.
Racial profiling, wherever it occurs, is an unfortunate byproduct of the price we pay for diversity, and one we simply cannot continue to tolerate. And until we are ready to face these realities, and have a genuine discussion with ourselves across all color lines, we will unfortunately continue to be plagued by the issue of race.

SOLUTION
It seems to me that the real solution to this problem is for those in the Black community who are serious about addressing the permanent interest of "Safe Streets" would not allow propagandists to "Mau Mau" against the police. Instead reinforcing the notion that there is a partnership of mutual interests between the community and the police. Failing to do this the Black community is the inevitable loser.
The prevailing will to retain control over the streets must be the force to stand against those who seek to terrorize the community, using intimidation to have their way.
The realization that the fight for libertine freedoms against the general society is very different from the active human resource management that must be exacted with regard to the eco-system that you control in relation to people who seek to tear it down. The more the consciousness of this fundamental duty is abstracted or outsources to some other the more like the situation inside will erode. No conspiracy theory or manufactured notion of national "social contract" can replace the fundamental obligation for a local community to govern itself and the human resources within accordingly.
Update: Yet Another Example - After watching the video of the Racially Segregated Gangs in California and their murderous assaults - it appears that when the AUTHORITIES are alleged to be racists do we see legislative intervention into the "racism" in the prisons.
