The SCLC Foolishness - Of Rituals And "Portraits Upon The Wall"

Many fear recent in-fighting may be death knell for SCLC

“The Klan couldn’t destroy the SCLC, and the CIA couldn’t destroy the SCLC,” said state Rep. Tyrone Brooks, who started at the SCLC 50 years ago as a 15-year-old volunteer. "Those who killed Martin Luther King Jr. didn’t destroy the SCLC. It’s those who claim to love SCLC that are destroying it from within.

"And I’m talking about all of them.”

In the past, internal disagreements – frequently described as family fights – were usually resolved discreetly within the Atlanta-based group. But not this time.

In the past six months, two feuding factions have called a string of news conferences. They have made almost weekly trips to the courthouse to argue over who is on the board of directors and who is not; over who has control of the SCLC, and who does not.

Any frequent reader of this blog will know what I have observed to be the case:  "The worst possible situation for a person or group that is 'externally yolked' is to be left ALL BY THEMSELVES, having to focus upon INTERNAL issues".     Look no further than the SCLC for evidence of this.

For most of the organizations from so called "Civil Rights Movement" some have moved on to become out right "Progressive-Fundamentalist / Democratic Party operatives" and thus have been allowed to permanently struggle against external enemies.   The SCLC got caught flat footed.

A few years ago they announced at their annual dinner banquet that there would be an SCLC office on every continent around the world, spreading the words of "peace and non-violence" obtained from Dr Martin Luther King Jr..   At the time I panned this plan, noting that while they are looking at the globe a few short blocks away from their Atlanta headquarters is a "killing field" of Black people that could use a dose of their medical treatment.

The SCLC, the NAACP and the King Center (among others) all suffer from the same fate.  They focus more on their glorious past and now perform rituals and worship the "portraits upon the wall'.  This has outstripped their actual benefit that is expressed upon the Black community and the American society in general.

As a resident of metro-Atlanta I watch the news and I am treated to a daily dose of shame as I watch the crime that is committed by those who the operatives in these civil rights organizations pride themselves in having "freed" from the scourge of oppression.   Now they live to terrorize the very communities that they have freed.  Their reign of terror has extended into lily White communities where the SCLC and NAACP might have protested within upon hearing the evidence of police racial profiling of a carload of Black males who 'should not be there'.

In the end - I can't blame the SCLC for any of this.   The Black community must be held accountable.  For too long we gave these organizations credibility based upon their previous actions while buying into their tales about the forces that presently stand against our community after they have graced us with their "victories".  We were asked to be appreciative of their past works for if they had not sacrificed for us - we would still be enslaved.

I noted in the past that such words are mere weapons used against their critics.  The main people who need such a rebuke are the Street Pirates who are creating a "Racial Profile" - each and every night on the news.
