Lower Merion PA: Even Though The "Black School" Is 10 of 10 - Some Black Parents Object To Being Gerrymandered Out Of The "White School"

I have to admit this is a very big anomaly for me.  Typically I use "GreatSchools.NET" to contrast a school with a good track record against one that doesn't.  Also to show that despite higher "per student spending rates" the ratings do not show a correlation.

To come across a conflict over two schools - both of which are rated "10 of 10" in "GreatSchools.NET"  is rather stunning.

In truth this debate between the "White school" called Lower Merion High and the "Black school" called Harriton is the same as the argument I pointed out a few weeks ago over a Black and a White school in Mississippi.   One key difference is present thought.  Whereas BOTH schools in Mississippi proved to be incompetent - in Lower Merion PA - both schools are stellar.

Please tell me what I am missing here?

Lower Merion actually has a higher percentage of Black people in its student body (10% versus 7% at Harriton).

This CAN'T be about "racial discrimination".
It has to be a debate over the feelings of being "slighted" or "tricked" into attending the newer, less proven school - Harriton.

Something ain't right here. These schools are literally right around the corner from each other.
