Chicago Sun Times: Jackson calls for feds to help curb violence
Fresh from his trip to Arizona to condemn the state leadership for presiding over "Selma Alabma 2010", Jesse Jackson returns to his home town of Chicago to make note of the deadly "bitches brew" that is boiling over in the streets. Beyond the "Mission Accomplished" signs and the favorable political landscape for Black people per the struggle of the Black Establishment - the excitment that was once present about the political victories doesn't seem to be translating onto the streets and the daily lives of the people who are suffering in this domain today.
As an observer of "my people" I note the high tensile strenght that we have in regards to tolerance for enduring certain unfavorable situations. At the same time, however, I am frustrated by the apperent blindness that is expressed in regards to the gross irony that stands before us. Taller than the Willis Tower in downtown Chicago is the fact that the very people who have strategically assembled the present conditions in Chicago and beyond are now standing on the same podium demanding external assistance from the Federal government to prevent that which they were outraged about in Selma, Little Rock, Birmingham, Philadelphia MS, St Augustine and Tupelo.
Over the past week Sirs Sharpton and Jackson have labeled the State of Arizona with Jim Crow Era referneces. They know the POWER that these words have upon the sensibilities of Black people. In doing so they are able to retain their "moral high ground" as they render indictments against those who grew "sick and tired of being sick and tired" of the immigration laws been flaunted. Now these same people who merely seek to uphold the Federal government policies which mandate that all immigrants carry their 'green card' with them at all times as RACIST.
We should note that in Chicago - Sir Jackson will indeed note that it is a "City in Crisis". What we won't see is the "Civill Rights Era" indictments against the KILLERS of Black people.
When Blacks were being killed by racist Whites in the South - do you recall Rev Jackson and his contemporaries calling for MORE JOBS FOR THE WHITE FOLKS because they are living in desperation? Do you recall him empathizing that they as "poor White trash" had a feeling that upon losing the noting that despite their poverity the Negro was below him and this served as some sort of cushion, regardless of how perverted of a notion it was?
What other than RACIAL PROFILING affords Rev Jackson the ability to hold short of indicting the "Racist Street Pirates" who are murdering our people in so many urban areas that are in crisis just like the Southside of Chicago? In this "no-fault" social policy Rev Jackson and others believe that if they get the Black community to UNITE behind him and demand more MONEY from the Federal government - a government which like Chicago is favorably arrayed with Democrats that he assisted to put into power - this present misfortune that hovers like smog over the Black community might turn into a means of leveraging our "power" to lobby the government. A payoff for showing up on election day, if you will.
Where is the independent overlay WITHIN THE BLACK COMMUNITY who is strutinizing Jesse Jackson and the rest of the black Political Estabihsment and their Progressive friends for what they have rendered?
Why are we now making the case that it is in the vested interest of the Federal government to render peace in our streets? Wasn't this the same call made to the municipal, county and state governments prior to their take over by favorable people? What have we in fact received as benefit?
The real test is with the Black Rank & File.
The next time a Black Establishment operative misappropriates the use of CIVIL RIGHTS IMAGERY to exploit your sentiments - you rebuke him, forcing him to focus upon the areas that look far closer to the results had in Selma or Birmingham than what Arizona does.
THEY ARE NOT GOING TO STOP.
ONLY YOU CAN SUBVERT THEIR ANTICS BY DEMANDING RESULTS.
