First up - Tim Wise
I actually have strong contempt for the line of thinking put forth by Mr Wise. His only goal is to speak to White people, telling them what they must do to change so that the life of the "Negro" might improve. Ask Mr Wise what the Black man must do in support of his own salvation and something that makes reference to White people would be heard. I don't need to go too much into depth with Mr Wise's argument. As usual the only purpose of this article is to get the Black people who follow his line of "hypocrisy construction" to again follow him, assuming that he is "down with our cause".
Here is my rebuttal to Mr Wise:
- Imagine if a majority Black school system in 2010 that was controlled by White Conservative Republicans had a graduation rate of 51% for its Black students - Would they retain their seats of power?
- Imagine if the majority White city of Salt Lake City, UT had a White on Black murder rate to the point where some elected officials suggested that the governor of Utah send in the National Guard to insure the safety of the Black community from the wave of assaults that they suffered.......in 2010? I believe that many of the civil rights leaders who are traveling to Arizona would fly on Delta Air Lines and leverage their Salt Lake City hub to join a protest march in downtown Salt Lake City demanding that the government "DO SOMETHING" to stop the killers of Black people from murdering us
- Imagine if a genre of White Country music had a bevy of lyrics by which the "entertainers" signing them told of their threats to kill any Black man who "stepped to them"........and with life imitating art there were several noted acts of violence by White country music stars against Black people - some of them resulting in death?
Michael Meved - White Conservative Republican On "Blacks and Republicans"
Mr Medved does it stand to reason that in the present arrangement where many of the places where Black people live are nearly 100% Democratic dominated and STILL WE STRUGGLE that there is something over than hopes for "Integration with the Republicans" that is at work? Seriously Mr Meved. Think back to the early days of scientific research where there were some unexplained force (let's say gravity) that was not yet defined but which altered the results of the scientific experiment. Those who were interested in making an accurate model of the forces that had a significant impact on the object under study would continue to uncover the details of this unknown force.
Mr Medved - when you see the "Black Civil Rights Overlay" to the Black Rank and File tell us "above all else we cannot allow the Black vote to be split across multiple parties lest we lose our power as a voting block" is it any surprise to you that this is exactly the case today within the Black community? Mr Medved - DIVERSITY among the parties is NOT a goal of the Black Establishment order that has strong influence over Black America. Indeed those Blacks who leave the Democratic party are seen as "wayward sheep".
You see Mr Medved its not that the "Democrats who are Black" have to show us how our communities have ORGANICALLY prospered while under Democratic Control. They merely need to put forth the fake argument "Tell me again what the GOP has ever done for the benefit of Black people?". The reason why this question is bogus is because the "drug maker" of the blue pill which promised to cure us is seeking to look beyond the indictment of the "placebo effect" that his drug has and instead demand that the competitor drug manufacturer prove that his drug is effective at a cure. This despite the legacy of confiscation of this drug from the shelves in the Black community by this overlay force.
In summary, Mr Medved - Black people don't need to become Republicans. If the GOP died tomorrow this would not move the cause of the Black American forward one bit. Instead the Black community needs a more transparent management infrastructure by which all forces who are not working for our primary interests are forced outside of the protected circle.
The Obama Effect Upon Young Black People
Upon seeing "happy and excited Black people" and you are the one questioning the logic of their mirth per the facts that surround them - the fact that you have thrown cold water upon the person's present state is the indictment used by others against you. For some people the state of "excitement" for a people long depressed is more important to them than is having one's sentiment firmly affixed to hopes for the future that encircles a detailed management plan of action on how to get there - talking the maximum amount of people who are willing to help along with you.
Fear not young people. Your emotions of hope for the future are as arbitrary as your resentment felt when a less favorable force was in power. Those who impress upon you have the motivation to sell you on "their guy" but also to tarnish the other guy who is there enemy.
As a college student your job is to learn effective research methods which provide you with tools to go ask questions about the world. Indeed there are some forces within the university system who's goal is to indoctrinate you. I'd recommend that you keep an eye on "humanities professors", especially the one's who call THEMSELVES "Public Intellectuals". In my experience this is a sure sign that they are leading a quasi-religion and that they are looking to build a large congregation to listen to their own brand of "prosperity gospel".
None the less - upon hearing this news it would be grand for a researcher to document this "Obama effect", initiating a "longitudinal study" by which these young people at Hamilton College are tracked over 5 or 7 year intervals with the goal of determining the extent to which they called it right about their future.
Our goal needs to be the promotion of accurate models of the world amongst our people. The more accurate the model the better defined the forces that bear down upon us will be documented. This tends to nullify the impact of purely emotional trigger, instead using a greater set of capabilities from these human resources to develop the affirmative system which can propel them to this favorable outcome.
Article 4 - The Battle Between Sharpton and Smiley From A White Progressive's Perspective
I made the personal investment to go out and read periodicals published by White Progressives/Socialists. In these items one can find more clear analysis of the function of the Black body politic and its importance to the Democratic left documented more succinctly than most other sources. There is an absence of "White conservative" taunts which notate that Blacks as a loyal Democratic voting block should be suppressed. Nor do you hear the words of the occasional Black conservative claiming that Blacks are 'slaves' on the Democratic plantation. Instead these White leftists do a better job in admitting what NO BLACK PROGRESSIVE would ever directly admit: The Black vote is to be used to advance the "Progressive agenda" which in turn will advance the cause for Black people and everyone else. So they say.
In reading this type of analysis the observations of the great journalist George S Schuyler are fortified. Back in the1930's Schuyler observed that there is no original Black American cultural or political ideology. Instead they are "lampblack" in nature - American or leftist ideas respectively, that are given a coat of "coal soot" to dress them up and make them more appealing to Blacks. I think that brother Schuyler is spot on with his analysis. Its proven on a daily basis.
With this as the back drop the article in question does a good job in calling out what is happening in this debate between Smiley and Sharpton:
Criticizing President Obama is a hard sell in the black community. Even with the Great Recession wreaking havoc in every nook and cranny of African-American life, it’s not easy to get a discouraging word from black folks about America’s first black president.
And those who do utter such words often face community enmity and questions about their motives.
Blacks are intensely loyal to the first of their own, but while this strong sense of racial allegiance is understandable, it’s producing a logjam in our political culture.
Note the recent public spat between former presidential candidate and activist the Rev. Al Sharpton and Tavis Smiley, the commentator and author.
and another segment from the article:
Those in the Sharpton camp argue he should avoid black issues lest it enflame white opposition to a point where it could cripple his presidency. If Obama pushed a black cause it would empower conservatives seeking to derail progressive legislation. Let us not forget, they note, that it hasn’t been that long since the days of Jim Crow apartheid.
What’s more, they argue, with tea partiers ominously waving their assault rifles and screaming for Obama’s political blood, now is not a propitious time for a black agenda.
Sharpton took unusual umbrage at the criticism because in some ways Smiley had usurped his traditional role. Sharpton had been the one on the outside throwing rocks. Now he is an insider and a bit uncomfortable with his new role as presidential apologist.
The last paragraph is insightful.
Only the season premier of "The Boondocks" has so clearly called out the obvious.
Think about it folks - recall back during the Civil Rights Movement the two people who were arguing that "now is not the right time to promote equality for the Negro" were - White folks in the establishment and Black people who played the "Uncle Tom" role, not wanting to upset the establishment.
I have noted frequently that TODAY - the Progressive is the establishment. In my case my goal is to have them stand accountable for the results. In the case of the article above - Sharpton doesn't want to "bother the establishment", troubling it with the "Black Agenda". The point that both Smiley and Sharpton miss is that THEY ARE BOTH elements of the "9P's In The Black Establishment".
- Press
- Preachers
I promised to detail the unifying theme in all four of these articles.
That theme is Black Ideological Bigotry and Entrenchment.
No amount of evidence, as shown by the "Mission Accomplished" signs that are hung in our community after each election day, is going to be enough to have the balance of the Black community to discontinue their outward struggle for "social justice" and instead look toward the people who now control all of the key institutions within our community. Expressing the audacity that they should be the one's delivering for us because they now sit in the seats of power. The same seats that the Black Establishment used to protest against.
- When we protest for the protection of Black people against crime - the mayor that we put into office controls the police
- When we protest for better quality education - our representative sits among friends on the school board
- When we protest for jobs - in truth we are highlighting the fact that despite winning the political victory over the places where the "consumers of labor" once resided - the strategy has been a long term failure. In essence the protest is a demand to have them come back.
In fact if our community was on the trajectory to flip to being a Republican encampment I would protest as vigorously. I know that there was some quid pro quo handed out as a means of exchanging the currency of our vote for this material gain received but not organically produced.
This is only about proper governance and management of our communities and the human resources within. Absent an internal system to do so we are left susceptible to the force who make serial promises and who move the goal posts - the carrot - further away after each election cycle.
Our community is the loser as these operatives play within this void that exists.
