And to think that when PBS host Bill Moyers does his shows he goes out of his way to detail the "sole corporate sponsor" of his show. The fact that the the foundations that fund his show came from corporate titans doesn't matter.
Oh how Prof Skip Gates has fallen from favor. If this keeps up we are going to see Gates and Tavis Smiley forming a brand new Progressive-Fundamentalist faction among the Black Academic and Black Media elements of the Black Establishment. With all of the infighting going on at present surrounding the SCLC and the underhanded tricks - I would hate to see this here brand of progressives splinter as such.
Add this to the list of evidence of the out right BIGOTRY that exists among the "Black Guard".
When you speak what they want to hear they will provide you with "racial cover", regardless of what you do. Even when a corrupt politician is caught red handed, the fact that he was "stealing for the benefit of Black people" is enough to have these forces protect his backside.
I have had a few e-mail exchanges with Mr Ford over the years of monitoring his former home (BlackCommentator.com) and his new propaganda portal (Black Agenda Report). I noted to him how strange it must be to walk into the offices of BlackCommentator where they likely have their walls lined with the array of editorial cartoons - 98% of them featuring their political enemies. How does one get work done with so many enemies staring at you?
This perpetual indictment is what you feed off of.
We should never confuse the fact that you "Know who did this to us" with the notion that you and other Progressive-Fundamentalists have a reasonable pathway forward for our community.
So much of your movement is standard Leftist/Marxist/Perpetual-Revolutionary propaganda.
The quest for reparations is your "Remember the Alamo" call. You are unified with your merry men in pursuit of reparations more than you realistically expect to actually receive them.
With the election of a Black man as president of the United States - the fact that he does not support Reparations (and there is a Democratic controlled Congress completing its 4th year of power) - means that you all must STRUGGLE HARDER - until there is a President in place who does support Reparations. He is more committed to you than to the "corporate interests in America" - as you see it.
You bestow "realness" to those who agree with you. They must rain down indictments against American imperialism.
Anyone who disagrees with you has sold out to corporate powers.
As I read your plan to stop "capital flight from the cities" I observe the major contradiction in you. You can't possibly seek to slay corporations as they are the goose that will provide you with your golden egg in resources. You merely seek to use the government as an agent of financial resource redistribution in support of your socialistic goals.
Why is it that we don't see the Socialist/Marxist agents in America today "circle the wagon" and work to bring forth the system that they desire by taking over a city or a county and producing the economic system that they desire?
Oh - I think I know what you will say. In controlling this local domain you don't have control over the NATIONAL economic policy and thus the corporatists are able to undercut this local strategy with their capitalistic national monetary policies.
You will continue to struggle regardless of how many progressive forces are in power (or at least forces that the Progressives saw fit to vote for).
I just wonder what will happen when you actually catch your tail.
I see nothing in your movement that shows that you are building up the infrastructure in preparation for the day when you slip up and "win". (or more likely - your enemy has moved away from you and left you all alone)

Suppose the government were to come and take everything I own, and give it to a poor black person, for reparations. In ten years I'll earn it all back. In ten weeks the poor black person will be dead, from drink and drugs. So, how are reparations doing anyone a favor?
