As A Black Man The Next Time I Go To Kansas City I Had Better Focus Upon The Threat From Right-Wingers Rather Than The Street Pirates

Kansas City Escalates Violence Against Black Youth

Center For Anarchist Information And News

Now I understand why US Rep Emanuel Cleaver was so incensed recently when a "right wing" Tea Party protester violated the principles of "Say It Don't Spray It"  as spit rained down upon him.  It appears that his home town district of Kansas City MO is a hot bed of klan activity.

I recall eating dinner in this restaurant district that they are speaking of with two other Black males a few years ago while visiting Kansas City.  I can only guess that it was our appropriate dress and conduct which allowed us to escape the brutality of racism that the anarchists are speaking of in this story.

Article from the Anarchists:
Kansas City, like most American cities, has a long history of racism and white supremacy. One of Kansas City's dirty little secrets is that much of the city is still segregated by race and class. The authorities and local capitalists have for many years been fighting a war against black youth, driving them out of fashionable public areas with violent policing. For many years, local youth would hang out in public districts such as Westport. An multi-year effort by capitalists there privatized the district, making it "safe" for the white middle class. The new mega-development in central downtown, the Power and Light District, has kept black youth and many people of color out of that capitalist theme park through a dress code and draconian security. This past weekend, hundreds of local youth gathered in the Country Club Plaza district, a posh shopping area, only to be pepper-sprayed by the police.
