Tavis Talks Asks - Will This Health Care Bill Pay For Itself?

Sadly too many people answer polls based on what they want to believe rather than what is rationally possible.

Bookmark these words from me.  They are not my "hopes" but instead what the preponderance of knowledge about history and the character of our political economy tell me:

  • Health Care 1.0:  What we have at present
  • Health Care 2.0:  The removal of the antics done by the Health Insurance companies for cost saving purposes (No drops for preexisting conditions, the addition of politically based decisions to reject premium increases)
  • Health Care 3.0:  Dramatic increases in health care spending as those who supported this bill attempt to save face by avoiding the predicted cuts in service and access to procedures/drugs
  • Health Care 4.0:  After it becomes apparent that we are dealing with a furnace with an insatiable appetite and the previous attempts at stripping profits out of the system result in predictable "unanticipated results" - the agreement that cuts and rationing in the context of a national economic crisis will be put into place.
Our long term health care system will be Health Care 4.0

It is amazing to listen to various supporters leverage the Congressional Budget Office findings for cover.  The CBO is not allowed to editorialize about the accounting gimmicks (4 year delay in services, shifting of costs to the states to make the Fed bill lower and appraisal of the likelihood that the cuts in Medicare reimbursements will ever happen.)
