Oh Darn!!! City Of Atlanta's Quest To Arrest The CEO Of JP Morgan Bank Tossed

AJC: Atlanta case against JP Morgan Chase dismissed

Let's see here.

  • The City of Atlanta has a massive problem with illegal dumping.
  • The City Solicitor sees a "Deep Pocket" Target to go after.  It is the property owner rather than those who actually dumped the tires
  • The City gets some local press by announcing that it plans to seek an arrest warrant against the leader of a mega-bank
  • The case is tossed once the mega bank proves that it is not the owner of the property
  • The City Of Atlanta, beyond this one case STILL has nothing that they can do about the many other sites where locals dump trash but not on land owned by a mega bank.
Story:
An Atlanta municipal judge dismissed a case Monday against JP Morgan Chase after the city's solicitor's office erroneously believed the bank was responsible for a mountain of tires dumped on a vacant lot on Memorial Drive.

Solicitor Raines Carter filed illegal dumping charges against JP Morgan Chase after his office's initial research showed the company owned the lot, located at 1462 Memorial Dr. SE.

Carter said he met with attorneys representing the company last week, who showed him evidence that it does not own the property. Carter asked Judge Gary E. Jackson to dismiss the case, adding that the tires have been removed.
